Ticket to Rye is a Rye IPA that offers the imbiber an opening act of rye spice, nicely woven into a hearty, bitter backup from an entire band of Nugget hops. The harmony created by these ingredients is just what any epic show calls for.

Clear light amber - soapy, sticky lace - nose is very malt forward - quite a bit of toffee - moderate woody hops - soft carbonation - medium body - flavor is also fairly malt forward - quite a bit of toffee, followed by a fairly hearty rye character - more earthy, woody hop flavor than there is actual bitterness - the malt/hop interplay and balance reminds me very much of an American style barley wine, but in a good way - a solid brew for magic hat.

Bottle from Spring Variety Pack. Pours a clear mahogany, thick chunky head. The aroma is rye and caramel, with floral hops. Flavors of spicy rye, pine, sweet malt. Comes across as full bodied, but easy drinking. Great balance and interplay between the rye and hops.

12oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. Appearance: Orange/brown in color, with three fingers of a creamy, sand colored head. Lacing’s quite nice on this one as well. Smell: Really a lot like an IPA with a burst of floral sorts of hops, but there’s certainly a rye aroma, which should be expected (given the name), as well as some sweet smelling malts. A very nice smelling beer. All’s good so far. Taste/feel: I haven’t had many ryes, so I’ll throw that out there right away... but it’s quite an intriguing beer. I get a lot of sweetness on the front, with a lot of rye bitterness on the finish. There’s a very nice balance here though, which really makes this beer quite drinkable. The finish is not for the faint of heart, but Ticket to Rye is tasty. It smells and drinks like a sweet-ish IPA, but the rye makes things interesting. After having their #9 as my first beer by them, things have really only gone up from there. I like Ticket to Rye more than I thought I would.

Pretty good looking, coppery and clear, good head and lacing. I thought the aroma was a bit odd, kinda like some hoppy lagers that I’ve had. Sweet, spicy, quite floral, a bit malty. Taste is somewhat different to the aroma, very spicy, mildly sweet, rye-forward malt backbone, a fair degree of hoppiness. It’s actually a bit slick and sweet on the finish, with a lingering spicy bitterness and a medium body, medium carbonation. It’s a very tasty beer. Good thing I got six of them.

Pours clear copper color with off white head. Soapy aroma with some rye and pine. Toasted malt and earthy flavor with some spiciness from the rye and pine hops. Medium body with average carbonation.

Aroma is dank, earthy,. Taste is pretty good when cold but once it starts to warm up the malty notes start to overwhelm the hops. Good looking beer, really nice head, good lacing but overall not my kind of IPA...I prefer a more West coast style beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle. Aroma and flavor is pine, hops, spices, light rye and sweet malts. Smooth and semi-creamy.

12 oz bottle from IPA mix pack. Pour is lightly hazy, deep reddish-brown in color, and covered with a large and very durable tan head. The glass remains coated with sticky lacing long after the beer is gone. Smells as expected -- like rye + IPA -- but with a better and more appetizing aroma, probably due in part to a proper dose of sweet malts. Very nice flavor with spicy rye, sweet and toasted malts, and hops in good proportioned. I see some rather low ratings for this beer which I suspect are due mainly to a less aggressive hop profile than some prefer. Medium body and medium+ carbonation with a lively feel and a unusually dry finish. Recommended.

Poured a cloudy mahogany with a decently thick light tan head. Aroma is pepper, spruce, resin, and a very faint caramel. Taste is pepper, chocolate, citrus, and pine with a slightly metallic and bitter aftertaste.

Clear copper with a big cream colored head and a little lacing. Mild aroma of rye bread, toffee and grassy hops. Taste is malty and a little sweet with a very mild bitterness. Medium bodied. Good beer, but weak IPA.
