Bottle at Sanderís place in NYC. Pours clear copper with a fine, foamy head. Kind of bready, some piney bitterness, dried fruits, gritty earth. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Some dry dirt to finish, mellow rye tang, toast, herbal hops. Not great.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear light copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is sort of spicy/herby. Med body or so. The rye is clearly present with spice, and thereís a sort of veg/herb along with it. Itís bitter in the finish, but Iím not getting much of the usual hop suspects. Herbal I guess.

12 ounce bottle from the spring sampler. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel malts with earth and rye notes. The taste is spicy rye, herbal and pine notes, caramel malts and some toast. Well balanced. One of the better Magic Hat beers Iíve had in some time.

DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2013
12oz bottle, shared by robotopera. Clear red / orange color. Thin white head. Little lace. Barely anything interesting in the nose, especially side by side with a West Sixth IPA. Just some malty old hop aroma. Light rye spice, toasty malt, citrusy hop flavor. Some grapefruit. Zesty sweet taste. Light bitter. Medium - plus body. Lighter carbonation. OK rye IPA.

BVery (9662) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottle from Four Firkins. Mostly clear light amber pour. Small head. Some Rye and spice on the aroma. A bit malty as well. Taste is a decent rye with a touch of astringency late.
