12 Oz bottle poured into a pint glass, orange brown color and decent lasting head, caramel, citrus, vanilla, nicely hopped. Not as good as Sierra Nevada ruthless rye but pretty darn good

Pours a dark amber from the bottle. Aroma is a nice hoppy earthiness, but flavor falls short, as I feel a lot of Magic Hatís beers do. They donít quite gel, just disparate flavor elements that donít make the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Moderately hoppy IPA. Some rye flavor but not too strong. Decent, but not great.

Draught @ Recovery in Troy: This one pours a murky brown, and was somewhat milky. There was a small white head that left some lacing. It has a lighter aroma. Some rye, grapefruit and pine. The taste is fair: some of the hops come thry (grapefruit and pint) as well as some rye. I probably wonít have this one again.

"Light bodied ipa. Decent aromatic hop profile. easy on the palate with some pine and a dry spiciness from the rye. Pleasant, if simple. Definitely refreshing."

Aroma is fruit, malts and a hint of spicy rye. The flavor is fruit, earthy, rye, malts, citrus/tropical fruit, mild sweetness and a low but lasting bitter finish.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2014 12oz bottle @ The Great Beer Experiment, Singapore. Dark amber, cloudy with a small / medium head. Light citrus and rye on the nose. Some fruits - tangy plum. Slight bitter taste, roasted malt and rye flavours dominate. Sweet in the aftertaste.

Second beer consumed in DADDYíS MYSTERY BOX - many thanks! 12 oz. bottle, "MORE DRINK MORE THINK" printed on bottom side of cap. How delightfully amusing. To oversized cognac snifter, it pours a rusty redwood with which a sudsy, ivory white head 1 and half fingers in length stood. Aromas of cedar bark, pine-scented Little Trees, spent grain, banana peppers (gosh, havenít used that in a while), denim jeans, kumatoes, agave syrup, avocados, and rolling tobacco. Tastes much the same with the addition of sesame seeds, sourdough, and DME. Medicinal hops, shallots, and American yeast experienced by swallow, alongside a very mild spice characteristic resembling cinnamon and cardamom. Medium-bodied drinking. Pleasant. Would have again, even though it did not wow me.

Magic hat has always been hit or miss for me. This one hits right in the middle. Not over the top but not a stand out. An okay beer from a good brewer
