2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Light malt, no hops. Smells like an adjunct with some malt additive. Looks like iced tea. Meh. Fairly standard Magic Hat crap.

1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Very hazy deep amber coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, yeast, nuts, caramel, toffee, raisins and a touch of figs - odd for the style. Medium-bodied; Sharp pungent nutty flavours with some odd lingering malt and caramel with some dryness and not much else - odd and very mild. Aftertaste, potent, dry, bitter, not too pleasant. Overall, a pretty bad offering from a not-so-great brewery. Worth passing up unless you like unbalanced and bland lagers that don;t taste like they should...and if you do - you probably aren’t on this site. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 15-February-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 20-February-2010.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Aroma of canned peas. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Powdery mouthfeel. Earthy barley malt flavor. The taint of canned peas lingers. Flavorful, but dirtry and unclean for a lager, even a vienna. Poor quality.

Fart in a bottle? I wish I’d thought of that. Aroma is non-existent. Mouthfeel is full of carbonation. I can’t place taste but it ain’t good. Luckilly it doesn’t last long.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear amber body with a small fizzy off-white head that retained pretty well. The nose is way too nutty and grainy for the style, smells like hazelnuts or peanuts. The flavor is very off for the style too, I can’t get the taste of peanuts out of my mind, especially on the finish. None of the sweet and clean munich malt character that I want from a Vienna. Light to medium bodied with a bit of stickiness. This is pretty awful, even from Magic Hat. They ought to call this Peanut Beer.

1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
I have to admit, I’ve found Magic Hat’s stuff to be rather hit or miss. This one pours a light amber orange color with a frothy off-white head. The nose is loaded with sulphur and reminds me of someone’s feet. After holding my nose I take a sip. Nondescript and lifeless. Nothing more than slight cracker notes and an acrid bitterness. Overly aggressive carbonation doesn’t help this brew out. It has a light, watery mouthfeel and lacks both body and substance. As I said, Magic Hat is hit or miss and this one is a big airball. Skip it for sure.

This poured a cloudy lighter brown color with an eggshell colored head. Aroma was malty nutty and a little bit of stale garbage. Flavor was nutty and something else that I can only describe of offensive burnt malt. This stuff was almost a drainpour for me.

It seems a good seasonal is hard to find, or perhaps I just pick the bad ones. A nice iced tea color, but that’s about as good as it gets for Vinyl. The beer has an odor of canned tuna and peas, extremely unpleasant. The taste also has a bit of canned pea taste, but not as bad as the smell. The head peaked at about a half inch and disappeared completely within ten seconds. Unimpressive, won’t try again.
