Pours an amber color with a decent white foam head. Has a roasty, caramel aroma. Has more of an ale feel than a lager. Very roasty and malty. The malts mellows the beer out a bit too much for me. Bland for even a session brew.

Bottle from brother-in-law, and spied in Capone’s subsequently. Pours dark straw with nose of cloying hopcit, some off notes. Tastes watery, with some pale malt, mild hopcitrus, and some plasticy notes. Not good.

Bottle. Friend left these at my house, so I drank a couple. Pours out a yellowish color with a white head. Smell is grassy with a little bit of hops, not much going on. Taste similar, with a pretty heavy grassy overtone; not many hops. Not very good..

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear copper pour with a fizzy white head. Dirty and musty aroma with some vegetable and sour notes. Flavor is very musty and dry as well. Some nuts and caramel, but mainly bitter and stale grains and hops. Nothing much to it, and definitely nothing special.

Magic Hat and I just don’t get along. Just about every beer from this brewer has tasted a little wierd to me, and this lager has to be included in that statement. The beer pours a very dark golden color with a subpar head that leaves almost no lacing around the glass. The aroma is of toasted bread, nuts, caramel and earth. The flavors are a little bready with some caramel, light hops, a little grass and a pinch of citrus. The aftertaste is where this beer really gets a little funky, with some grassy hops and sour notes. I guess I’m just not a big fan of Magic Hat.

Red copper pour. Aroma of bread and caramel malt. The body was thin and had an artificial fruity flavor. For me, Magic Hat just barley does enough with their beers to not get lost in the shuffle.

Very average. Aroma has some grassy hops and yeast. Appearance is cloudy orange/red, with a thinnish tan head. Taste is weak, and on the malty side, fairly carbonated.

Pours white thin head, dark amber color, not very high in carbonation. Aroma is sweet malt, some biscuit with grassy floral hints. But somewhere in between comes this unpleasant smell of standing water. Taste is sweet toasted malt, some cookie. Pleasant bitterness.
