3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2011 Bottle. It poured a clear light brown that had a slight yellow hue with an average sized light beige frothy head that diminished quickly but allowed for some fair lacing.
The aroma was light of bread malts, some herbal and grassy hops and a somewhat lightly sweet yeast with notes of caramel and maybe a little nutmeg.
It tasted lightly sweet and malty with notes of caramel at first and finished bitter-sweet yet mildly acidic with a mild hoppy presence ant the end. The flavor may have only lasted a short while but was long enough to let you know this was an enjoyable brew.
Mouthfeel was quite creamy in texture and medium in body with a nice mild carbonation.
Overall a decent and tasty seasonal brew that is quite drinkable and refreshing.

Bottle sample from backlog notes. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted grainy malts, caramel, light earthy notes, not much to get excited about.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a semi-dark to hazy burnt orange to ruddy brown color with tinges of sly malty looking red colors escaping along the sides of the glass. Thin white foamy but mainly bubbly head quickly dissipated leaving barely any lacing.
The smell had some dark roasty bready/burnt nutty dried (slightly dead-like yeastiness). Burnt biscuits.
The flavor was mainly the same with a dry sweetness to it. Pretty much that "burnt" flavor to it. Dry burnt bready aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly mild.
Overall, as an American amber lager, there’s much better ones on the market than this. Yeah, I wouldn’t come back to this.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Lightly hazed dark copper colored liquid. Modest aged paper colored head. Fairly light aromas, only a hint of toasted malt and a touch of herbal hops. Toasted malt dominated the flavors. A touch nutty and earthy. More a brown brew than a refined Vienna. 3/10

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle pour into pint glass: clear copper color with about an inch of light beige foam that subsides after about a minute. Aromas of honey/caramel with piny notes. The flavor is nice and biscuity, gentle toastiness with solid caramel sweetness down the middle and some hoppy brightness to help finish. The medium body and good carbonation hold up pretty well. I like it. It’s not real complex but it’s very drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 10/29/2015. Pours crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Great appearance. Aromas of brown sugar, cracker, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of brown sugar, cracker, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a very nice Vienna lager style. All around good robustness and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I am a fan of this, tons of malt character w/o being sweet or overbearing. I guess most people don’t like such things as much as I do. This is a slightly cloudy beer w/ a thin white head. Lots toasty malt note and even a hint of roast, which is surprising given this is not particularly dark for an amber. This is medium bodied w/ crisp carbonation and just a hint of sweetness to highlight the malt. Definitely give this one a try if you are a fan of the style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s in Short Pump, VA Nice head formation with lacing down the glass of the clear amber lager. The off white head stays with the lager. The aroma of toasted bread greets you with caramel malts. No hop aromas were evident. Nice tasting larger. The vienna style is one of my favorites. The larger has a medium body with average carbonation. The finish has more of the bready flavors with toffee as a kicker.

Bottle from magic hat. Pours a deep Amber with an off-white head. Nose is some toasted malts, some sugar, and some almost French toast.
