3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap very dark with very little head. Taste is malt and coffee. Had it side by side with an Old Rasputin and there were definite similarities. Carries the alcohol well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle from Ales By Mail, served in a Teku Glass. Pitch black, with absolutely no light passing through, and a creamy light brown head. Great lacing retention. Nice aroma of dark bitter chocolate, espresso coffee, lots of vanilla, a bit of wood/leather and dark fruits under spirit. No trace of the alchool at all in the nose. Very bitter, with the some of the alchool showing up in the mouth, but fortunately not in a harsh way. Again plenty of coffee, dark chocolate and some hoppy bitterness. Certainly a nice change from the overly sweet IRS. 10.5 % ABV ? No way, extremely well hidden. Medium to full body, soft and pleasent carbonation, oily texture and coated lips. Great.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle from Beer Ritz in Leeds. £7+. As dark as night with a dark tan head.
Not as good as i remember it from 12 months ago, in fact VERY disappointing.
Poor nose, slight coffee but mostly an overwhelming smell of sick after too many spirits.
Taste was slightly better but not by much.
Surely this was a bad bottle!!! But a bad bottle that cost me in excess of £7 :-(

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. 20.01.13. Black. Thin, coffee coloured head. Big, roast coffee. Burnt wood. Some dark chocolate. Lovely stuff, but has a tad too much burnt bitterness at the end, for me.
