Say hello to the Bearded Lady, our uncompromisingly big and beautiful Imperial Stout. Born from our Dark Arts recipe she uses masses of magical malts to deliver deep chocolate, rich coffee and vinous berry flavours all complemented by a balanced yet subtly spicy hop profile. Powerful, robust, intriguing; yet decadently smooth and sumptuous, the lady demands respect…

Uber smokey cred ham and dark malts. Smoorh and rich this is heavy on the smoke. Licorise, ham, dark sugar, chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Roast in the finish. Unique and very enjoyable.

Tap (Pudel, Tallinn) (7+:4+:7-:4-:13+=3.5+)
Lovely aroma, even though I have a bit of a cold. Super rich roast, a little chocolate cake icing, temptingly sweet. Black, brief keggy dark tan head. Very bitter in the mouth, burnt, and with a wormwoody pungency. But it’s surprisingly drinkable, for 10.5%. Very full and smooth palate, just enough carbonation to cut through any stickiness. Roast and bitterness do become more oppressive as it warms, acidity builds. Finish is a copy of the taste, but shows more of the bitter and acrid aspects. Hops are nice and earthy and barky, which I like. If I was ticking a thimble I’d surely have given this more, but in quantity it becomes too oppressive.

Tap. Very very dark brown color. Medium size, thick brown head, stays. Sweet, roast, husky malts, coffee, liquorice and sense of alcohol in aroma. Mix of melted dark chocolate and coffee, bound together by deep roast and punch-in-a-face hops and covered with alcohol. That’s the taste. Aftertaste is as long and as bitter as Thatchers politics over working class. Bitter alcohol, although with sweet notes, makes it difficult to drink, but still enjoyable.

Black, thin but dense brown head. Smells like coffee and tobacco, plus some red wine. Very smooth, rich palate. Note of wood, coffee and chocolate. Dry, oaky finish. Very tasty...

33 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 2018
Aroma has ash, some tobacco, salty licorice and licorice root. Flavour has salty licorice, some ash and hints of tobacco. Too salty and actually pretty similar to the Sierra Nevada Narwhal we had before this.
