4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Deep dark brown pour with a plump tan head. Cracking nose of sweet chocolate, cookie dough along with some skunky fruity hoppage. Decent fullish mouthfeel. Flavour was along the same lines as the nose with notes of roasted malt and coffee. ABV (didn’t he just get the boot from Chelski?) barely poked its head above the parapet. Smooth, rich and very tasty stuff. Another Magic Rock win.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of anders37. Pours an opaque black with a small, rough beige head. Roasty nose with a smoky touch. Solid body, heavy roast, quite some dark fruits and a rather bitter finish from both malts and hops. Serious stuff, and distinctly not US style. 030312

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I’ve had this in the cupboard for a while and finally felt in the mood!
POurs as you’d expect. deep black with a tan head. it didn’t last too long though. big coffee aroma with some smoke, also a touch of alcohol. flavour has bags of coffee and chocolate, some spice a little earthy too. very thick palate and an slightly resinous oil feeling. this will last a long time in the mouth.
easy drinking for 10.5!
as they say "decadently smooth and sumptuous"

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(330ml Bottle) . I liked how the 10 % went to straight my head and got me in the mood to drink all night . Floral earthy hop nose with chocolate covered raisins swimming in burnt coffee . It looks like any text book Imperial stout....in the mouth an intertwining between richness and roasted notes ..coffee and bitter chocolate interplay. Very decent , but lacking some complexity .

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black body, light brown head. Great aroma with roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, and a strong pine hoppy note. Full, syrupy palate with little carbonation. Awesome balanced flavour with coffee, spices, dark chocolate and lots of bitterness in the finish. A great beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle, mybrewerytap.com. Black coffee appearance to match the beautiful strong roast aroma that pervades throughout. I think brown stout is a bit of a misnomer, as its as black a beer as I’ve seen. For a big ABV, the alcohol hides itself well, there’s no burn and just a late warmth in the chest. The flavour is very full, but is not stupidly OTT. Smooth, soft palate - another astounding beer from Magic Rock.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home, 18th February 2012. First of all I have to comment on what a good looking bottle of beer this is, very compelling. Pours a jet black, nice head, which lasts a short time. Aroma and taste are good, leather malt, biscuit, not so much coffee and liquorice as other Imp. Brown Stouts I have had. Drinks very smoothly, well below its ABV

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from MyBrewerytap.com. Pours pitch black with a huge frothy dark tanned head. Aroma of hard roasted coffee, prunes, tar and liquorice, not a bad combo. Taste is dark chocolate, heavy newly roasted coffee, spices and hops towards the end. Impressive roastiness at the end, almost burnt caramel, sweet and bitter. Oily and smooth mouthfeel. Great, super

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle. Pours brown with a chestnut hue and a fawn creme. The nose has ginger biscuits with some toffee on top. The taste has crushed dark chocolate digestive biscuits. The palate is rich and full in structure and texture with a clean zing on the finish. Overall, delicious, rich and well balanced.
