3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fra fat på Cardinaltreff feb-13: aroma av rådyr, eksklusiv kaffe og sigarkasser. Kveldens nese iflg Alse Bjørn. Rund munnfølelse og laang ettersmak preget av aromaen. Bitterheten balanserer maltsødmen, men litt brent toast i smaken. So smooth, mer glattbarbert enn bearded.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Cardinal. Good coffee, dark chocolate, roasted notes and pollen on the nose. Smooth and pungent. Full bodied. Roasted delights and liquorice in the mouth but a hint of green apples in the end. Still, a wonderful beer

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
28th January 2012
Dark black - brow beer. Tidy tan head. Semi dry palate, quite light. Fine carbonation with a sting. Strong dark malt, bitterish and a little roasty but with a nice toffee undertone. Pretty bitter pine and grapefruit hops, leading to a dry finish. Bitter linger. Good but a little harsh around the edges.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Keg, Sheffield tap, Sheffield, 31/12/12. Glossy pitch with a big sinking swell of tan foam. Urinal, rotting leaves, slight Crunchie and black choc nose. Huge booze, feta, leaf matter, burnt celery, chargrilled pepper. Tastes like a vegetal 4.5% vegetal cask stout. Strawberry Quality Street notes; sucked drainpipe clogged with leaves. Probably my biggest beer disappointment of 2012.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark beer out of the bottle with some brown hues at the edges. Thin beige head that shrank to a small ring. Roast coffee, molasses and alcohol in the nose. Some molasses and dark caramel sweetness with lots of chocolate, bitter coffee, piney hops and a nice alcohol burn. Almost hot spiciness to it. Very nice snifter sipper.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at William IV (Magic Rock takeover) 10/12/12.
Pitch black, tan head which retains well. Good lacing ensues.
Nose comprises roast malts, coffee notes, a touch farty!
Tastes of light soap, roast malt, dark sugars, chocolate, touch of booze though the alcohol is well disguised.
Full in body with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate leading to a sweet roasted finish.
Would like to revisit again as this wasn’t as good as the previous time I remember having this beer (bottled).
