4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2013 Test Batch bottle at home ... deep black ... only thinest tan lacing ... deep dark coffee roast ... deep solid roast ... barest hint of charcoal nose ... good body with just the right amount of carbonation (you listening Chris) to carry the big abv ... dark roast malts ... again heavy dark chocolate and a massive amount of coffee ... some of which is just a little too bitter for me ... soft spicy hop... little reminiscent of the Yeti ... mellow chocolate linger .... with a deep roast profile ... This is definitely impressive and a beer i so much want to see in cask and i definitely want to revisit when it gets its official bottle release as i can only imagine it would get better. But in the mean time i have a 2nd bottle to enjoy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
28th January 2012
Dark black - brow beer. Tidy tan head. Semi dry palate, quite light. Fine carbonation with a sting. Strong dark malt, bitterish and a little roasty but with a nice toffee undertone. Pretty bitter pine and grapefruit hops, leading to a dry finish. Bitter linger. Good but a little harsh around the edges.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Bottle Shop Canterbury. Black beer with lasting beige head. Strong intense malt on aroma. Tarry. Nutty, Molasses. It’s a big monster of flavours, but the heat doesn’t come through too much, it’s all well hidden. Quite smooth in mouth. Good wide mouthfeel. Coal aroma. Flavour has some good intense dark fruits blackberry and dark plum juice. Big hairy beer. Compared to something like De Molen, the complexity of the malts isn’t really there, but as a drinkable impy stout, it’s pretty damn good.
