Say hello to the Bearded Lady, our uncompromisingly big and beautiful Imperial Stout. Born from our Dark Arts recipe she uses masses of magical malts to deliver deep chocolate, rich coffee and vinous berry flavours all complemented by a balanced yet subtly spicy hop profile. Powerful, robust, intriguing; yet decadently smooth and sumptuous, the lady demands respect…

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. 2014 release. Clear, dark cola colour. Minimal, but sticky, pale tan head. Raisins steeped in Bourbon. Old Jamaica chocolate. Vanilla. Fudgy toffee. Some fusty orange hop. Treacle. Taste is sweet, with the vanilla coming through first. Light, smoky molasses thing going on after that. Lots of boozy warmth. Palate is big, oily, smoky, and cocoa delicious. Finish is all of that. Very good.

Sample @ CBC 2014. Pours dark brown with a small dense tan head. Aroma is milky and bitter chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, coffee and burnt malts. Taste is medium sweet caramel, bourbon and dry burnt bitter chocolate. Stocky medium/full body with soft carbonation.

Woodshed 3.0! Sample courtesy of nbutler11, muled back from the UK. Thanks Nick. The bottle pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma is inviting and offers up fairly rich coffee goodness, dark roasted malts, a dash of burnt malts, smooth bourbon and a sliver of sweet marshmallow. The taste is pleasing and rich as it delivers dark roasted coffee that is sweetened by malts and molasses and then it rolls into a smooth sweet bourbon note that has a thin edge of booziness to it. Very nice.

On tap at Haand Festival -14. An almost black one, topped by a dense dark beige head. The aroma has chocolate, bourbon and coffee, some sourish malts blending in. It has a nice bitterness in the flavor, with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and some bourbon. Warming, full-bodied and with a pleasant carbonation level. Mostly roasted finish with some bourbon notes. Overall, too much bourbon for my likings, but sure nice. 140523

Brown pour, smallish beige head. Light barrel notes, toasted oak, some espresso and chocolate. Ok for the style. A tad dry.

Bottle shared @ Woodshed 3.0! Not sure who the generous soul was but thank you! Dark cola pour with a small khaki foam. Dark fruit, roasted coffee, and cocoa come through in here...not a ton of bourbon or wood. The alcohol is well hidden. Not a bad brew but not a great example of the style.

Bottle from the hive. Virtually black pour, small tan head. Loads of coffee and chocolate on the nose. Roasted malty chocolate taste, light fruits and bourbon. Lots more, deep beer with loads of hoppy flavours that keep coming. Smooth finish. Amazing.

Draught @ Haand Ølfestival 2014
Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, vanilla, oak and chocolate finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
