180 day aged Bourbon Barrel version of Bearded Lady Imperial Brown Stout....
Say hello to the Bearded Lady, our uncompromisingly big and beautiful Imperial Stout. Born from our Dark Arts recipe she uses masses of magical malts to deliver deep chocolate, rich coffee and vinous berry flavours all complemented by a balanced yet subtly spicy hop profile. Powerful, robust, intriguing; yet decadently smooth and sumptuous, the lady demands respectÖ

Borefts 2014. Poured deep brown, virtually black with a beige head. Aroma of vanilla smoothness, moderate alcohol soaked berries, coffee and roast malt. Full body, flavour as the aroma, a bit of liquorice and molasses sweetness.

@ Borefts 2014. Black colour, dark brown head. Soft carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee with caramel, vanilla and sweet molasses. Well balanced, but a tad too sweet.

A decent brew, but just like some of the other brews on the festival, Iím tasting something that reminds me for some reason to some plastic. The beer is good, and Iím not sure or itís ment to be inside. Also the other variant Iíve tasted of this one had the same, so I think itís just one of the ingrediŽnts, probably the used liquour barrels.

Sampled draft @ Borefts 2014. Thank you! Pitch black, creamy mocha head. Very warming mocha, bourbon, caramel, syrup nose, amazing. Very warming, thick light liquorish, candy, brown sugar, pancake syrup, some roast, crazy thick beer. Absolutely amazing.

On tap @ Haandfest 2014. Itís pretty much black looking in the glass this one. Only a small islandy brown sidesticking top. Lovely nose. Lots of rich chocolate and vanilla. Bourbon booziness and licorice. Tons of licorice in the taste a bit like drinking liquefied IFA (Norwegian salty licorice pastilles). Yeah, this is how a beer should taste superbly flavorful. It has a thick and oily feeling in the mouth and a soft orickling carbonation level. The licorice, salty kind dominates the taste. Itís also sharp and you can really sense the alcohol here. Lingering chocolate and something that reminds me of a chili burn in the aftertaste. Most likely just the alcohol though. Yeah, a lovely one! 24.05.2014
