Keg at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a brownish black, small brown head. Aroma is wonderful - chocolate, coffee, hop spice and plenty of bourbon and vanilla. Taste is similar, lovely roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, whack of bourbon, but the interplay with the beer is really nice - the bourbonís not too overpowering, itís just right. Long coffee bitterness to finish. Seriously good.

Bottle. Bourbon, roast chocolate, dark fruit, nutty. Very smooth, easy drinking for the %. Light sweetness, full body. Great stuff. Bit of smoke. Good stuff

On tap @ Haandfest 2014. Itís pretty much black looking in the glass this one. Only a small islandy brown sidesticking top. Lovely nose. Lots of rich chocolate and vanilla. Bourbon booziness and licorice. Tons of licorice in the taste a bit like drinking liquefied IFA (Norwegian salty licorice pastilles). Yeah, this is how a beer should taste superbly flavorful. It has a thick and oily feeling in the mouth and a soft orickling carbonation level. The licorice, salty kind dominates the taste. Itís also sharp and you can really sense the alcohol here. Lingering chocolate and something that reminds me of a chili burn in the aftertaste. Most likely just the alcohol though. Yeah, a lovely one! 24.05.2014

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Heavy malty aroma. Starts strong, heavy malty, intense, earthy, peat, hints of liqourice. Warming-malty finish. Not bad!

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bomber bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, big thanks to jtclockwork. Pours nearly opaque, very dark brown with a thick tan head that leaves average lace. The nose is fairly restrained for a BA Imperial Stout, with brown sugar, molasses, and a touch of vanilla. The flavor is the same with a bit more molasses and toffee, with the molasses, hint of vanilla, and an added funky basement note. The body is full with average carbonation and a long molasses and vanilla finish.

660ml bottle from BeerRitz. Annual release 2014. Pours black with a frothy tan foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of chocolate, woody oak, vanilla, caramel, berry fruits, coffee. Taste is sweet caramel, toffee, chocolate, molasses, dried fruity, followed by wood, oak, vanilla, roast malt, coffee and then boozy earthy grassy notes. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, lingering chocolatey roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2014 Bottle. Black wax, dark bottle with dark print that probably says a lot of the usual craft beer shit. Pours black with a small tan head. Bourbon coconut and vanilla, wooden, charcoal, dark chocolate, astringency, tannins, candy. Full body, oily/sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter, light acidic. Hot alcoholic finish with bourbon notes. Rough and uneven, original is better.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. 2014 release. Clear, dark cola colour. Minimal, but sticky, pale tan head. Raisins steeped in Bourbon. Old Jamaica chocolate. Vanilla. Fudgy toffee. Some fusty orange hop. Treacle. Taste is sweet, with the vanilla coming through first. Light, smoky molasses thing going on after that. Lots of boozy warmth. Palate is big, oily, smoky, and cocoa delicious. Finish is all of that. Very good.
