Cannonball is an India Pale Ale in the true tradition, high in alcohol and massively hopped to survive a long sea voyage. We don’ t want you to wait though, crack the cap and let the flavour explode on your palate. Tropically fruity, resinous hops compete against a sweet malty backbone, while a rasping bitterness builds to a mouth puckering crescendo. Our hop bomb might just blow you away…

Can from deeside drinks, pours a hazed brown with a light froth head that fades. Aromas of pine wood, pineapple and grapefruit. Flavour is basically exactly the same with a nice pine finish.

Pours pale amber with good lacing and persistent white head. Aroma is more muted than I expected, with caramel, some citrus and soapy notes, but definitely no hop bomb. Flavour is sweet, malty, some bitterness with short to medium finish. Little disappointed with this given the high ratings on here. Wonder if may have been past its best

33cl. Bottle.
Pours hazy yellow with white head.
Aroma earthy, pine, citrus, grapefruit, fruity, caramel.
Taste some caramel sweets, dry piney bitter.
Mouthfeel bonedry!.

Fancied something cold and tasty - a classic IPA straight from the can. Hit the spot. It’s cloudy and gold, with a thin layer of white head. Plenty of fruit on the nose - grapefruit, mango and apple - with some subtle pine. Bags of bitterness throughout the flavour, with lemon, sweetness and aforementioned fruit. Does the job very nicely.

33cl can, served in Shaker glass. Nice orange colour with white head. Aroma is mango, orange and hints of pine. Taste is predominantly tropical along with caramel notes. It’s good but not as good as the aroma. Pleasant bitterness, it’s half sweet and half dry on th palate. Medium body, good carbonation. Quite balanced and tasty.

Can. Characterful dried apple aroma with a fair bit of banana. Fairly hazy golden yellow with a fine bubbled almost white head. Although it has poured extremely hazy, the colour compliments this making it a gradient in the glass from yellow at the top to deeper golden at the bottom. The banana aroma becomes more pominent and ’ripe’ after some time. Damn, the liquid is silky soft on the lips and tongue and introduces a morphing bitterness which starts rounded, accompanied by bright yellow fruit such as starfruit and becomes more prickly bringing a slightly more citrusy nature with it. There is a unique floral and spruce flavour running through always which is delicious and while the alcohol burn is apparent it is well balanced by the softness of the drink. This is almost as good as realistically possible.

Can bought in JAN/2016, I believe it was canned late 2015. AROMA; Fresh green vegetables, hoppy. APPEARANCE: Light bodied. Amberish, going on for blonde. TASTE: Superb, cracking. Light bitterness, upfront hops. Light malt backbone. Fresh. Very good. PALATE: Lingering bitterness. Pleasant. Freshness. Quenching. Summer day’s drink. OVERALL: Probably the UK’s flagship IPA. So well made, piny, resinous, good carbonation, fresh, light, excellent example of the modern style. Hopefully this is a permanent addition to the roster.

From tap at Øst 21.01.16 with ABE and ACE. Almost clear golden. White head and lacing. Aroma and taste of bitter grapefruit. The same in aftertaste. Perhaps also some Sevilla marmalade and pine. Quite dry.

Una delle mie ipa preferite. Eccezionale anche in lattina. L’amaro persistente che lascia nel finale rende instancabile la bevuta.
