Cannonball is an India Pale Ale in the true tradition, high in alcohol and massively hopped to survive a long sea voyage. We don’ t want you to wait though, crack the cap and let the flavour explode on your palate. Tropically fruity, resinous hops compete against a sweet malty backbone, while a rasping bitterness builds to a mouth puckering crescendo. Our hop bomb might just blow you away…

Can from Hippo Glasgow (£3+). I quite like this one. Fruity and sweet with faint bitterness at the end. Quite long. Very little alcohol for 7.4% and probably a wee bit too sweet for my palate, but decent stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank w Matt after my cousin Jonathan's wedding banquet. Cloudy beige-tangerine, fizzy watery white head and legs. Smell is very nice - heavy resinous hop, moderate to heavy sweet floral honey cereal malt, corn flakes, stone fruit. Taste is huge wet resin bitterness, long lasting, big stony finish. Body is very bitter, stony, ends on lightly spicy frothier lemon finish. Great great beer. Massively resinous hoppy crisp beer. Nose is wonderful, with plenty of interesting and complex malt flavours to complement. A steal for HKD $32.

Can (really nice design!) from Bottle Shop at home in new home. Hazy opaque golden yellow-orange. Aroma is floral-resinous - honey sweet and citrus peel. Taste is more resinous and grapefruit peel hops with profound bitterness. Balanced by sweet honey. Lasting boozy warm bitterness. Great IPA.

Can. Pours a hazy golden with fluffy off white head. Nose is pineapple, passionfruit, grapefruit. Flavor is vibrant, resinous, passionfruit and grapefruit, heady, a little piney on the finish, sweet citrus fruits on the mid palate from a mixing of malt and hops. Medium body, highish carbonation. Don’t feel the 7.4%, drinks like a less strong beer. Very tasty, really intoxicating hop character.

Really hazy yellow color with creamy white head and lots of yeast sediment on the bottom of the glass. Aroma is really dank and grassy but also with nice pineapple and papaya notes. Taste starts juicy and slightly sweet, continues with grassy/dank hop notes and finishes with just the right amount of bitterness. Medium to full bodied with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall this is one of the best IPAs from Europe. It pretty much goes the same direction as the New England style IPAs.

330 Ml can hazy straw yellow color. thin white head that remains a good while. Bits of spotty lacing. Nose is hay, straw, citrus, fruit, and oddly enough hop pellets. Nice nose. taste is somewhat yeast like, with lots of citrus and pine. Back has a lot of grapefruit peel and dough. a bit malty and a bit fruity at the same time. Works pretty well overall.
