4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ladnewton (917) - London, - JUL 6, 2011
Cask at the Southampton Arms on 5th July 2011. Gold with thin film head and plentiful lace. Fine grapefruit aroma. Intense grapefruit and bitterness in-mouth, and a long bitter grapefruit finish. Superb, cutting and intense flavours overall, light mouthfeel.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 prawlie (566) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 6, 2012
Half Pint on draught at Reading Beer Festival 2012. Golden, with short-lived bubbly head. Hopped plus sulphurous aroma - a bit farty. Dry, heavily hopped, with a hint of malt and a burst of citrus. Its quite nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 essexcalf (41) - Essex, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2012
On cask at "Cask" in Pimlico, London (6/4/12). Pale yellow, clear, nice head, but fades. Light, floral, spicy aroma. Fairly light, but nice flavours. Clean, good bitterness. Not too bitter, quite drinkable. Fruity aroma hops, bit spicy, good balance. Slight fruity, bitter aftertaste, but not long-lasting. Left with some residual aromas. Very good light pale ale.
Reminds me of Redemption’s Trinity, what with it being a deceptively flavoursome, low abv pale, though i think that Trinity does a better job of packing in more flavour per abv and it’s a bit more quaffable than this.
But this is still a very good session ale for the summer, with plenty of aroma and flavour.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JohnRMurdoch (1575) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - APR 14, 2012
Cask @ Craft Beer Co. golden yellow colour, good head. Resin & tropical fruit aroma. Biscuit & citrus fruit flavour, bitter aftertaste. A bit flat & watery but still good.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
This is the breweries flagship pale ale; I found it at The Cask and Kitchen in London during Oct 2011 and sailed away from the bar with a hand pulled pint. They claim to use plenty of US hops in the brew; I struggle to find any difference between UK and US hops to be honest, varieties yes, where they are grown, no. To be fair there were plenty of hops evident in the brew, be they American or Brit.
Anyway, the beer was a pale blond, almost golden in colour, a small white head tried to cover the beer but failed.
There is a strong citrusy aroma (grapefruit from Cascade hops maybe?).
The taste was an easy blend of bittering hops and smoothing malts, it had more body than the look indicated and overall it wasn’t a bad pint. In fact it was an ideal first pint of what turned out to be a bit of a mammoth (and expensive) session in the aforementioned pub.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 stravale (580) - Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND - MAR 29, 2012
Cask @ The Red Squirrel, Edinburgh 270312
Pale straw, slight haze, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma of soft zesty grapefruit tropical fruits, bit of orange, light sweet pale malts
Taste of soft sweet , bit sour grapefruit, orange, tropical fruits, light sweet malts, so well blended, incredible flavour for 3.9%
Palate - soft carb, bit viscous. Finish as main flavour but more zesty bitterness, lingers a bit then clears off palate. Superb palate for the abv.
What a great UK brewed Golden Ale by Magic Rock. The aroma, flavour and palate is so well done for the abv.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 26, 2012
Cask, handpump at The Grove, Huddersfield 17.03.12 in company of dad & Barry Pours gold in fact it is more pale golden with a white head. Soft in the mouth, it is both a little creamy and also with some vanilla. There is also a nice slightly flinty minerally thing going on here, providing a slight edginess to this beer, hoppy throughout, great beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BrotherLogic (251) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2012
Total craft. Goes hop forward and then some but on the way turns away from being a nice balanced beer into something which has too much hop oils to make a sessionable drink. Pleasant enough in a half but I can’t see me having more than a half...

Cask at The Stockbridge Tap Magic Rock takeover. Clear straw gold with a white head. Lovely hoppy nose. Great citrus hop notes. A lot of flavour for such a low abv.
