COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Arts blends 4 malts and bags of whole hops to deliver a decadently deep and indulgent experience. A luxuriously smooth mouthfeel, is followed by spicy hop notes and full flavours of chocolate, liquorice, blackberries and figs. The finish is rich and satisfying with a lingering roasted bitterness. Our stout will convert you to the dark side.

Small beige head. Opaque black body. Earthy coffee aroma with spicy notes. Dryish resiny earthy coffee taste with mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry earthy coffee grounds aftertaste with spicy burnt notes. Nice, vivid, drinkable, but falls off a little at the end. (0.15l sample at Haand 2012.)

A decent bitter stout, but there is a little missing in the aroma, it’s just coffee. the taste is a bit medicinal and bitter. Decent.

Draft at Brewdog Camden. Pours cloudy dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Massive coffee aroma. Flavour like drinking an iced coffee with a smooth bitter finish. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation.

Bottle. Black with a minimal tan head. Aroma is dry coffee. Flavour is exactly what I want from a stout - coffee, chocolate, caramel with a balancing hops flavour. Excellent.

Keg at the brewery, deep dark brown with coffee crema, coffee, malt and treacle nose. Rich full body with treacle, wine, burnt caramel, more coffee, beautifully underlaid with pine hop that then comes to the fore in the finish, along with a dry burnt bitterness.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Opaque black, not much head. Smells like a Stout all right - ashy and dry. Crunching taste, blocks of chiselled graphite and chargrilled notes, with just enough sweetness and hop to make it balanced. A delicious Stout.

Bottle. Black body. Thin tan head. Smoky, nutty, roasty and meaty. Milk chocolate and coffee. Citrusy hops. Spice, a little washing up liquid (not my fault). Initially hit of bitterness followed by bittersweetness leaving a soft chocolately finish. Fizzy. Great.
