COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark Arts blends 4 malts and bags of whole hops to deliver a decadently deep and indulgent experience. A luxuriously smooth mouthfeel, is followed by spicy hop notes and full flavours of chocolate, liquorice, blackberries and figs. The finish is rich and satisfying with a lingering roasted bitterness. Our stout will convert you to the dark side.

330ml bottle. Pours pitch black with a large head. Aroma is yeasty, roast with a little coffee. Taste is roast and yeasty throughout. A little watery.

This was impressive stuff. Served from cask at the Rake, this beer blows you away with malted roastiness. Hops sneak through and the mouthfeel is dry. Chocolate is certainly noticeable as is a figgy undertaste. Beautiful beer.

From bottle. Pours near black with tan head. Big aroma, smokey, toasty, sweet. Taste is toasty, roasty, slight smoke, slight licorice and ever so slight dark fruit. Pretty damn good for a stout, would like to see and imperial version

Dark brown beer (not black) with greyish brown fizzy head that fades slowly. Primary smell is chalk, then more subtle smells of roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, hint of chocolate, and hops. Taste is bitter, lots of coffee, plums, some figs and a bit of liqourice. Mouthfeel is very mediocre, a bit watery for a stout. Nice spicy hops and pepper in aftertaste, although it could be stronger. Could be better, but certainly not bad.

Bottle, Coppers8till8, Ncl. Big smoky roasted aroma, leads into a beautifully smooth full-flavoured assaualt on the tongue. This is a mighty stout, beautifully balanced, spicy hop notes come through to balance out the strong malt dominance. Definite plum and whisky characteristics. Gorgeous jet black colour and a rich dark cofee coloured head just add to the all-round beauty of this beer. Had this accompanied by some mature cheddar and toasted sourdough and what a pairing that was!

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2012 Bottle from Great Grog. Man am I excited about this beer. Big deep black pour, thick bubbly brownish head. Nose is rich dark chocolate, coffee, some raisin, plenty of roast malt too. Palate is thick chocolate and vanilla at first, which is soon joined by a definite roasty/smokey streak. Strange but pleasant hints of plum/raisin too. Spicy hop and ash finish, and the tiniest cheeky hint of booze. This is an awesome beer.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, London. Opaque black color. Sweet coffeish roasty aroma. Sweet coffeish flavor with some nuts, toffee and charcoal. Initially smooth with some ashy astringency and tannins in finish. A great stout with rich taste.
