Dark Arts blends 4 malts and bags of whole hops to deliver a decadently deep and indulgent experience. A luxuriously smooth mouthfeel, is followed by spicy hop notes and full flavours of chocolate, liquorice, blackberries and figs. The finish is rich and satisfying with a lingering roasted bitterness. Our stout will convert you to the dark side.

Draft courtesy of Stuart, thanks! Black color, thick brown head with good retention. Aroma of burnt espresso and milk chocolate. Taste is similar. Nice.

Cask-conditioned at the Cask, Pub and Kitchen 16/04/2012. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Roasted malts and dark chlorate aroma with a touch of happiness. Flavour had more chocolate, black coffee and a dry finish. A good stout.

Very dark, dangerously looking, with frothy tan head. But at 6% its not bad at all of course. Mostly coffee, some roasted notes. Good bitterness and well flavoured brew. Still drinkable, all right. Especially solid body work here. So it makes quite the nice drink. (2/3 pint at Brewdog Camden)

Pours pitch black with a bubbly light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Taste is smooth with hints of roasted malts, licorice and dark chocolate. Finish is slightly roasty with hints of berries. Quite easy to drink but still extremely tasty. Well balanced stout.

Creamy dark pour with very thin head. moderate coffee aroma with a smokey aftertaste that lingers. Rich flavours but a difficult drink.

Tough one for me this. Lovely smooth feel and no doubt tasty. But I was blown away with the first bottle, then had the 2nd a few days later from same source and was relatively non-plussed. I put this down to the fact that the first bottle was had after smoking something interesting.

Keg, Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, 03/04/12. Glossy, slightly aubergine-hued black fringed with tan. Lush, Neopolitan, cigar, burnt vanilla and espresso aroma. Deep silken berry tones overlaid with mellow lactic roastedness; mocha, liquorice. Quite a lipsmacker.

Bottled, 330ml from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Black with light brown head. Roasty, sharp stout, quite spiky in character, not as rounded, bitterness with a resinous hop note, drying and bitter. Good stuff without reaching the real heights.
