On tap at Vesuvio, Darlington. Golden amber in colour, foam white head leaving some lacing and aroma of tropical passionfruit and citrus hop. Immediate sharp tangy bitterness, taste is caramel & grapefruit with earthy notes, through to a dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 This is the definition of an unbalanced beer, it just tastes of hop pellet tea. It?s so over-hopped for a low OG beer. The delicious, soft guava and wood-oil aroma is destroyed by an earwaxy harsh bitterness that ruins the second half of the pint. If it was 7% I?d probably be lush (like Cannonball is). For a highly-hopped, low ABV golden beer, see Ilkly Mary Jane.

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a medium, frothy head. Aroma is mango, guava, melon and passionfruit, a riot of tropical fruits. Taste has a lot bitter grapefruit throughout, with some guava in the finish.

Jimmy Islip tweeted yesterday that he was going to play a gig last night in his Magic Rock t-shirt. I saw Jimmy play a couple of tracks on stage in Nottingham. He sang Dirty Old Town. He is mates with Chuck Ragan and he is from Huddersfield. Rod Stewart also sand Dirty Old Town. I work with someone from Huddersfield and someone who gave me this beer, but they are not the same person. Magic Rock is from Huddersfield. Therefore, Magic Rock is like Kevin Bacon.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Brum. Long time coming. An age in fact. Not much for me to add. Smells excellent. Hops are big for an APA - and that is rooting tooting-tastic by me. Big tropics, some feint smoke. Yep, deliciously drinkable.

A lovely beer - served from tap at The Cock, Hackney - quite dark amber for a pale ale, with beautiful vanilla aroma and flavour as it enters the mouth, a lovely fruity flavour in the mouth and a grapefruit / light marmalade aftertaste. Thoroughly recommended, and not too strong either, at 5.6%.

Mmmmmm. Tropical. No caramel malts. Reminds me of Kernel tablebeer but with more oomph. Big place in my beerheart for Magic Rock as their big launches coincided with the start of my proper beer drinking. This is full of tasty memories and their labels warm my cockels. Cheers.

Plenty of hoppy goodness on the nose - tropical and citrus fruits with an underpinning bittersweet malt. Pours slightly hazy gold with a persistent head. Flavour is sweet and shart up front but develops quickly into big fat dry notes with more grapefruity, hoppy goodness. Finishes long. A cracker.
