COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meet Cannonball’s big brother; we used more malt, more hops and more magical conjuring to crank up the flavour of our explosive IPA ‘Cannonball’. Get your taste buds ready for massive pine and candied orange aromas combined with bitter/sweet grapefruit and mango flavours all complemented by a deeply composed, satisfyingly malty base. Ever wondered what it feels like to be shot out of a cannon? Here’s what it tastes like…

12oz bottle, courtesy of Chase (who surprised us with it after his England trip). Thanks, dude! Pours a deep, clear orange-amber color; creamy, fine-bubbled off-white head with good retention and lacing. Lots of citrus and orange notes in the aroma, coupled to a reasonable amount of candied fruit and touches of caramel (significant crystal-malt additions, though without being overdone); hoppy-sweet. Medium-full body; lively carbonation; lots of assertive citrus and orange hoppiness, approaching tongue-numbingly bitter; more sweetness at the core than I’d like to see, but the crystal-malt additions, again, are generally kept in check: orange and candied fruits, but nothing tea-like or astringent or overly sticky; not a stellar double IPA (too sweet for me), but tasty. Lengthy finish of candied oranges, grapefruit bitterness, and a toasty end.

AROMA: cat piss (nose especially), grapefruit, wet soil APPEARANCE: amber, orange, frothy, clear, TASTE: very bitter, lightly sour, light sweetness, PALATE: medium body, sticky, average carbonation, bitter, astringent, long finish OVERALL: drain pour, nose is especially bad; typical, hopped to the maximum, beer that I dread.

On tap at Euston, London. Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty and caramely with grapefruity hops on top. Taste is similarly balanced, toffee and peaches. Never boozy. Moderately carbonated. Quite enjoyable.

Tap at the brewery, cloudy dark orange with a creamy clingy head, tropical fruit and pine on the nose, superb balance of sweet fruity malt, peppery and grapefruit hops and a big alcohol bite. Worryingly moreish!

(Draught/keg at Old Fountain, Old Street, London, 19 April 2012) Reddish amber colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of orange peel, caramel, grapefruit and resinous hops. Malty, fruity taste with orange marmalade, caramel, grapefruit, resin and a generous bitterness in the finish. Some warming alcohol coming through as well. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness and an impressive hop presence. Very nice.

Heavy citrus aroma, Pours a dark golden brown not much head. Big & heavy fruit flavour, nice palate, lots of grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Nice alcohol kick. Tasty stuff, maybe a bit rough around the edges but a good strong IPA.

On draft at Euston Tap. I really loved it despite the price ;-) . Light coffee brown, warm perfumed aroma with a sweet slightly citrusy taste. Excellent balance in a modern beer style.

Draught @ Euston Tap, London

Pours dark orange with a small foamy head. Aroma of berries, hops and caramel malts. Taste is quite malty and sweet with some fruity hops, caramel and berries. Finish is malty and slightly fruity. Alcohol burns through slightly too much. A bit unbalanced IIPA.
