3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(330ml Bottle) The most reserved ’Black IPA’ I think ive drunk , not that ive had loads, but this feels more resemblance to an American stout with the customary abundant use of aromatic hops , than a marring of two styles. Deep jet black, attractive beige head. Nose is hoppy and dark ,basically . On the palate, resiny bitter hops are tropical ,floral ,zesty and bitter ...dark malts are a bit subdued but ’there’ in muted sense .

Tap@ craft & co London. Small redblack. Intense resinous pine grass herbal Earthy notes. Great lingering pleasant bitterness. Full mouthfeel with absence of roasted malts, so the black malts more for the colour. Super brew.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2012 Bottle at home. Deep black pour, quite stout-like with a creamy tan head. Nose is big on hops, grapefruit, passion fruit, hint of mocha coffee. Similar flavours, intensely hoppy, juicy grapefruit, smooth rich mouthfeel and a resinous hop finish. Fantastic example of the style.
