COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Black IPA fuses speciality malts with a tropical punch bowl of new world hops to deliver a contradictory yet cultured concoction. A classically ‘pale’ aroma and quenchingly fruity palate belies a broodingly dark and deceptive appearance. Can a beer be both ‘black and pale’? Time to consult the Magic 8 Ball.

Keg at the cock tavern. Barmaid poured me a pint by accidentally. Aroma is really nice fruity citrus tropical fruit and touch of roast. Opaque black and dark caramel with a persistent cream head and some lace. Really nice citrus hop and fruit just a hint of choc and roast. Good.

Keg at Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Juicy, fruity, mouth watering bitterness. Beautifully balanced roast malt character. Silly easy to drink. Could have caved myself in on this...

On tap @ Borefts 2014. #17. Body is nearly black. Head is small, white, mostly diminishing, fair lacing. Nose is floral, Aroma is roasty, dark chocolate, strong coffee, soy sauce, very hoppy. Taste is light sweet, heavy bitter, hint of sour. Finish is light sweet, medium hoppy and roasty bitter, average to long duration. Medium body, thin texture, soft carbonation. Easy dessert IPA, very delicious.

This is fabulous, and something different from the rest. Has roast, caramel, chocolate and something that tastes like light anise or some other herb. Great balance. Black pour with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Tap at Churchkey.

Pours dark brown with a large, lasting head. Nose shows soft roasted and toasty malt along with a bready character and spicy, piny and fruity hops. Similar flavours, with more roasted malt and caramel followed by a massive resinous and piny hop hit.

Bottle. Pours near black with a tan head. A really good black IPA, it manages to balance the dark malts and IPA hops perfectly. Very good.
