Nice porter, excellent character, not sure about the chili element necessarily, but very good.

Draught @ Kaisla
Aroma is nice with cocoa, some semi-dark chocolate. Flavour has cocoa, roasted tones, coffee and semi-dark chocolate. Finishes with chili kick. Nice, usually these chili beers are lame or overburning but Magic Rock has got it right. A bit watery this is, but it is the only flaw.

Draught @ Kaisla, Helsinki. Pours a dark brown, almost black colour. Aroma of chocolate, wood and distinct peppery notes. Rich flavour of roastiness, pepper, grass, pepper and mild chili burn. Medium bodied and smooth mouthfeel. Quite good actually.

Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and spicy peppers. Taste is smooth, roasty and spicy with notes of chocolate and warming chili. Finish is soft, spicy and warming with chili notes and some chocolate roastiness. Pretty balanced and nice chili porter.

33 cl on tap at Toit?s, Tallinn. Close to black with a rather small tan head. Malty aroma with roasty notes, dark fruits, chocolate, hints of coffee and some chilli. Moderate sweet with pleasant roasty flavours, mild chilli initially, but more noticable burn after a while. Really nice one, well balanced and nicely done. Wouldn’t mind more of this!

Cask conditioned handpump Southampton Arms London 24/03/14. A pitch black beer with a tan coloured head. Bitter and roasty with a spicy kick but not a chilli burn. Neither is there much chocolate. Perhaps I’m immune to chilli heat as all I’m getting is a good roasty porter/stout like beer with just a smack on the lips. All that asides though this is a good beer.

Cask at the Baring Hall Hotel, Grove Park. Black pour with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas with a tinge of coffee, dark chocolate and spice. Flavours of hot spice, coffee and dark chocolate. Swift burst of chilli in the finish. Good stuff.
