On tap at Brewski April 2014. Big hit of chilli in the finish that stays with you long after the beer has gone.

Black beer with a frothy, light beige head. Aroma is toasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Flavour caught me totally off guard with an initial hit of chilli as on the pub’s board it just called it ’Punchline’! This is followed up by more usual malt, chocolate and an airy, hoppy feel in the mouth but the spice remains and dominates the beer. It?s nice and interesting but I wouldn?t have more than one during a session.

On cask at Coach and Horses, Dronfield - Rich dark brown body, thick off white lacing head. Nose is a dark sweet chocolate, a hint of the chilli to come in the nose. Taste is lovely and spicy, utilising all the chilli to its full potential, rich and smoky. Warmth at the end... and still ten minutes after finishing... with a stickiness to the mouthfeel. I liked this... A LOT!

Draught at the Magic Rock 25 Tap Takeover at BrewDog, Shepherd’s Bush on 31 May. Poured a very dark brown, with a scummy tan head and some lacing. Aroma of molasses, coffee and cocoa nibs. Roasted malt flavours, with some burnt sugar and a little grassy hop. The Chipotle peppers really built up to a good bit of spice in the palate, this mixed with burnt malt and smooth caramel. When this is done right, it’s a real winner for me.

Cervesa fosca, en el primer moment entra molt bé, però als pocs segons es nota el picant. Cerveza oscura, en el primer momento entra muy bien, pero a los pocos segundos se nota el picante.

(Cask at Craft Clerkenwell, London, 11 Apr 2014) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, liquorice and a touch of chilli. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, a generous coffee bitterness and a slight chilli bite in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Quite tasty, with lots of chocolate and coffee and a delicate touch of chilli. Very nice.

Draught @ Kaisla
Aroma is nice with cocoa, some semi-dark chocolate. Flavour has cocoa, roasted tones, coffee and semi-dark chocolate. Finishes with chili kick. Nice, usually these chili beers are lame or overburning but Magic Rock has got it right. A bit watery this is, but it is the only flaw.
