I am imressed by the amount of flavour in this session strength ale. Oak, berries, strong herbal bitterness. Intense, very refreshing.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
It has a colloidal appearance and a think head with mild carbonation. Lovely hoppy beer with a rich orange kick coupled with a hint of astringent pine. A really lovely and balanced beer.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Arrived in the glass with a coat of reddy amber with a steadily fading white head. The nose revealed plenty of grassy hop in addition to notes of citrus/orange, a little spice and sweet malts. Similar themes continued on into the flavour with some fruity notes and a drying bitter finish. Decent enough but not the best offering from this stable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
resin, floral, hay, dough, orange, hazy, frothy, white foam, light sweetness, very bitter, light body, creamy, lively, astringent, bitter, short aftertaste. Seems quite heavy initially, but quite uncomplex beer that after a couple of sips starts to become slightly watery

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The second real ale at the beginning of a session in the Cask Pub and Kitchen, London; Oct 2011: could I find any evidence of those 6 different hops and 5 types of malts used in this brew?
The hand pulled pint looked good: more brown than red or amber in colour, the off-white head, deep and full. Healthy looking beer, the head leaving some heavy lacing as the beer level sank (in half inch increments).
Those hops gave off a grapefruit, citrusy smell, some pine as well, the malts not really getting a look in on the aroma front.
The taste was a better blend of flavours, the malts asserted themselves more in the mouth than in the nose. Still plenty of hop bitterness about, initially and at the end, with the malts taking centre stage during the whole drink. Overall it seemed an easy drinking beer which was well balanced and uncomplicated, even if it had a multitude of different ingredients.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Lots of pine on the nose- not so much citrus. Really intriguing flavours going on of toast, pine and orange, with some pithy grapefruit lingering. 5AM clone, less heavy on Nelson though I would guess, but more reliable than BrewDog from my experience. A good balanced beer.

More class from Magic Rock. As usual, highly hopped, malty and rich. Citrus and bitter.
