Rapture is our full bodied, heavenly hoppy red beer. 5 types of malt and 6 types of hops make for a truly elating experience. Uplifting aromas of grapefruit and pine, combine with a pithy orange and pronounced citrus flavour which is balanced against a deeply rich and malty body. A satisfyingly dry and crisp finish offers your taste buds redemption. Our red ale will take you to heaven and back…

Cask, gravity at Harbury Beer Festival, Harbury, Warwickshire, 03.09.11 Reddy brown apperance with a little haze. Some perfume on the nose but continuing whiffs suggest plenty of citrus hops, and that is exactly what the mouth experienced. Fresh, zingy, fresh green hops, lovely bitterness. This is superb beer despite the hazy appearance. A8 A3 T9 P4 Ov17 4.1

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2012 Cask at the Horsehoe NW3. Slightly unusual - looks like a full coloured reddish brown ale but nose shows strong citrusy hopping. Bitter taste with grapefruit in the hops and a good firm malty background. Long finish. A very good pint - possibly a touch one-dimensional in the bitter hoppiness?

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’11. Hazed reddish amber with slight head. Full on fruity, hoppy, citrusy beer, there is a decent malty bittersweet body delivering some lovely hoppy flavours, grapefruit and lemon to the fore. A very pleasant beer and my beer of this festival.

Bottle. Copper, red with a beige bubbly foam. Aromas are toffee and red berries with cream and floral notes. Woody with some burnt toast. Flavours are sweet, earthy berries with background toffee malts. Pretty dry and peppery with yeast on the finish and grapefruit pith bitterness. Decent.

330ml bottle with Ben. Tastes like a 5am Saint with a less subtle hop profile. In a good way. Could do with a shot in the arm alcohol-wise.

Pours copper red with well retained creamy head. Big tropical fruit aroma with caramel malt. Tate is big fruity hop wollop with nice caramel toffee backbone. Very very tasty. Can’t help but compare this to 5 am saint. Is it better? Depends which day you get the 5 am saint.

Cask @ Southampton Arms, London. RBESG 2011. Pours dark amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Peachy and grassy. Dry and really tasty.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 July 2011) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with grapefruit, red fruit and spicy hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of red fruit, hints of grapefruit and spicy hops in the finish. Medium body, fairly dry, with a generous bitterness. Quite nice.

[330ml bottle] Chestnut reddish brown pour, again almost totally flat after an initial flurry. Very inviting bitter hoppy aromas, sweet caramel in there as well, quite floral. Tastewise the immediate comparison was BrewDog’s 5am Saint – they are very similar. However, Rapture isn’t as hoppy, the malts have more say – reasonably sweet, but not overly so, the woody notes compete with the piney hops – and the end result is pretty pleasing. I got a bit of smoke in the aftertaste as well, which was interesting [11082011]
