Bottle at home, cask at Sheffield Tap 20/07/11. Hoppy amber ale? Get in there! It’s an almost-there beer; caramel is spiked with slight spice, finish is dry and not cloying, flavours assertive and not clashing, hops prominent but not dominant. Just up everything another notch on the dial, lads, and you’ve got an amber that everyone will want to clone.

330ml can from Beer Ritz. Deep amber colour with a tan foamy head leaving lacing. Fruity hop aroma. Taste is malt, toasted, caramel with fruity orange hop, pine and tangy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry earthy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Can. Clear red amber, light beige head. Pine and caramel aroma. Caramel and citrus peel flavour. Rather fruity. Simple but very drinkable.

Can from Tanakaya. Pours a deep ruby red / copper with a finger of head that dissipates instantly. Very faint tropical notes, and lots of toffee. Light bodied with a thin mouthfeel and more toffee candy. Dry finish. Decent.

Aroma is woody and malty. Taste is very hoppy with notes of brown sugar and caramel. Bitter as fuck.

Restrained malty aroma in a copper pour. Laid back flavor profile makes for surprisingly easy drinking. Tends to the malty side - which makes it a great complement to the increasingly usual hop bombs.

Canned. Pours hazy amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, orange, citrus zest and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up being dry and solid bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Red IPA. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Nice hoppy amber ale, resinous with a nice malt backbone. I love this style, surprisingly hard to do it well. For the ABV I’m not sure you can find a better one.

Cask at The Holy Inadequate, Etruria. A clear amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of peach, red berries, pine, some grapefruit, slight caramel and grassy hops. Taste of peach, grapefruit, red berries, some orange, slight pine, a little papaya, a hint of caramel, subtle toasted malts and earthy, grassy hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, fruity, earthy, resinous hop bitterness in the finish. Probably the best cask amber Ale you can get, every flavour available from malts, citrus, fruit, pine and earthy hops. Great.
