3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I am imressed by the amount of flavour in this session strength ale. Oak, berries, strong herbal bitterness. Intense, very refreshing.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can @ cafe Derat, large sample. Hazy amber color, short frothy head. Aroma of caramel and toffee, piney and grapefruity hops. Toffee sweetness, caramel fudge, but also hoppy bitterness. Wonderfully balanced and caramel body is big enough to make it complex and very tasty. Awesome brew.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask at Old Fountain. It pours amber with a cream-coloured. Aroma has lovely spiciness, pine, grapefruit, light ashy toasted caramel, some resin and light sweetness. Medium carbonation, good dry and fairly light mouthfeel. Flavour has dusty caramel malts, some resin, a tad yeasty, some rhubarb, citrus. Fairly bitter finish with some grainy malts. Overall, nothing special but honest brew.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The second real ale at the beginning of a session in the Cask Pub and Kitchen, London; Oct 2011: could I find any evidence of those 6 different hops and 5 types of malts used in this brew?
The hand pulled pint looked good: more brown than red or amber in colour, the off-white head, deep and full. Healthy looking beer, the head leaving some heavy lacing as the beer level sank (in half inch increments).
Those hops gave off a grapefruit, citrusy smell, some pine as well, the malts not really getting a look in on the aroma front.
The taste was a better blend of flavours, the malts asserted themselves more in the mouth than in the nose. Still plenty of hop bitterness about, initially and at the end, with the malts taking centre stage during the whole drink. Overall it seemed an easy drinking beer which was well balanced and uncomplicated, even if it had a multitude of different ingredients.
