Kauge (603) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 2, 2014
Enjoyed on tap at Toit’s in Tallinn; reviewed retrospectively without notes. Colour was reddish amber; it had a small creamy top and left some lacing. Good piney-malty-grapefruity-caramelly taste and aroma, perfectly balanced, with a nice lingering bittersweet aftertaste. Palate somewhat dry, body and carbonation just enough. Lovely stuff! Should re-review in case I ever get my hands on a bottle.

31.7.2014. Dark amber colour. Aroma of orange hops, grass, pine Palate is soft, low carbonation. Tastes ripe fruits, earthy hops, pine, caramel malts. Despite low abv and real ale style this is tasty.

Cask at CP&K. It pours clear amber, with a large foamy beige head and soft carbonation. The nose is wood, smoke, orange, nut and some caramel sweetness. The taste is roasted malt, brown bread, wood, smoke, burnt malt, bitter chocolate, nut and astringency, with a long bitter-woody finish. A tasty hoppy red ale.

Pours Autumn red. Nose is spicy, oranges and sweet malt. Taste is spicy with orange and tangerine fruit. Then gives way to a more spicy red berry flavour on the palate.

another solid brew here, fresh from santa sleigh, nice red session ale with a healthy dose of sweet fruity hops. Very drinkable and still tasty and medium bodied. very nice for a darker but still refreshing session ale.

Bottle at home, cask at Sheffield Tap 20/07/11. Hoppy amber ale? Get in there! It’s an almost-there beer; caramel is spiked with slight spice, finish is dry and not cloying, flavours assertive and not clashing, hops prominent but not dominant. Just up everything another notch on the dial, lads, and you’ve got an amber that everyone will want to clone.
