COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg, regular
Session IPA. A beer lacking in alcohol can’t be really flavourful as well can it? Common sense says it won’t have a big aroma full of passion fruit and mango; it wouldn’t have a well rounded mouth feel and crisp bitterness and there’s no way it’d have satisfying IPA style depth of flavour…. is there? Think again, this is a beer totally devoid of common sense, the jester in the pack, a complete Simpleton…”

Keg at Brewdog. Barman warned me that this was from the bottom of the barrel, so maybe not at its best. Dark yellow or light orange, still, clear, decent full, fluffy white head endures. Aroma is mostly rubber / balloon with some sweaty leather, urine, cut grass, cannabis, ash. Body is medium to light, smooth, very low carbonation. Taste is light - grass, straw, yeast. Quite watery. Aroma is much stronger than the flavour.

Beese (1526) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 2, 2014
Draught at the Magic Rock 25 Tap Takeover at BrewDog, Shepherd’s Bush on 31 May. Poured a clear golden colour, with a dense white head and good lacing. Aroma of perfume, soft fruit and straw. Grassy hop flavours, some peaches and gentle bitterness. Finish was hop resin, peal and grain.

Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s bush. Rich golden colour with a lasting white froth. Aroma is big wet grass, soggy dog and orange peel. Some cereal and wort in the nose. Flavour is light grains and straw malts with light pine and grassy hops. Light mwtalic notes persist in the finish. Palate is pretty thin and watery with a light carbonic acid bite. Balance is somewhat off, needs more body to hold the hops.

Tap at Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Gold with bright tropical fruit hops, crisp, light malt notes, watery at first then the hops cut it. Great for the weight.

Keg at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber, small head. Rich tangerine and gooseberry aroma. Dry with light, crisp body. Never thin, just crisp. Loads of fresh tangerine hops. Long bitter finish. Wow!

Nocturne (746) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2014
Keg at Common, Manchester. Hazy gold/orange shade with some initial lacing. Strange one this: there’s some nice tropical and berry flavours, but definitely something odd going on. I wrote down ’burnt plastic’ and ’rotting veg’ but didn’t feel I’d described it correctly. What’s a lot more impressive is that for a low ABV beer this has a comparatively huge body behind it, and isn’t thin and watery like I feared.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 31st December 2013. Hazy amber with off-white foam and initial lacing band. Hoppy aroma with fair amount of grass. Grapefruit, tangerine and soft grassiness in-mouth. Light, crisp citrus finish. Zingy with discernable body for strength.
