Keg, regular
Session IPA. A beer lacking in alcohol can’t be really flavourful as well can it? Common sense says it won’t have a big aroma full of passion fruit and mango; it wouldn’t have a well rounded mouth feel and crisp bitterness and there’s no way it’d have satisfying IPA style depth of flavour…. is there? Think again, this is a beer totally devoid of common sense, the jester in the pack, a complete Simpleton…”

Keg at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber, small head. Rich tangerine and gooseberry aroma. Dry with light, crisp body. Never thin, just crisp. Loads of fresh tangerine hops. Long bitter finish. Wow!

Keg at Common, Manchester. Hazy gold/orange shade with some initial lacing. Strange one this: there’s some nice tropical and berry flavours, but definitely something odd going on. I wrote down ’burnt plastic’ and ’rotting veg’ but didn’t feel I’d described it correctly. What’s a lot more impressive is that for a low ABV beer this has a comparatively huge body behind it, and isn’t thin and watery like I feared.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 31st December 2013. Hazy amber with off-white foam and initial lacing band. Hoppy aroma with fair amount of grass. Grapefruit, tangerine and soft grassiness in-mouth. Light, crisp citrus finish. Zingy with discernable body for strength.

Cask at Fox and Anchor. Lovely but a little malty for me. Nice hop profile, rounded and packed with flavour- citrus, mango. Refreshing mouthfeel and the initial malt overtones disappear by the end to leave a very pleasant end. Not as good as table beer but fine.

A orange amber coloured beer, weak head. A strong fruity hop aroma, tropical mango and passion fruit plus a hint of grass. Dry mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma with big hoppy fruit flavours, again passion fruit, grapefruit and lemon that last into the finish. Potent for such a low ABV! Tasted at the 2013 Norwich CAMRA beer festival. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nch Beer Fest. Feels a bit like hop tea. Tonne of hops in there giving it a powerful, pungent skunky smell - pine and sour citrus. No body and it doesn’t quite feel like beer. Very dry, crisp and refreshing.
