COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
keg and bottled, special annual release
Our sumptuous golden Barley Wine ‘Strongman’ hails from the same brew as our annual release IIIPA ‘Un-Human Cannonball’ . Using just our house pale Golden Promise malt the beer is then judiciously hopped with Centennial, Citra and CTZ whole hops in our hop back. However instead of assaulting the beer with dry-hops we then carefully age it in freshly emptied Amontillado Sherry casks until its ready to take the stage. The resulting beer is golden in colour with a rich pungent aroma and full palate, which gives way to rich fruit and brisk nutty flavours. Best drunk slightly cold a dry yet balanced finish delights the taste buds while a warming finish brings the curtains down…

66cl, at 12%Vol, as Magic Rock No.3 Strongman, new exclusive English brew Anno 2013, thx alot to Koen for bringing this over!, very complex brew, alcoholic/fruity/sweet and slightly woody/floral/bitter, heavy, yet balanced, cloudy, good head, good brew, yet expensive!

660 ml bottle, thanks me, myself & I. Pours a dark orange colour with a small white head. Aroma of sweet caramel, raisins, sweet orange and wood. Flavour of strong sweet caramel, rubber, wood, orange juice, raisin and strong boozy notes. Full bodied and a strong, sweet, wooden and burning alcohol finish. Not very well balanced. Un-human was much better as-is.

66 cl bottle @ home, no BBE info Annual release 2013
Aroma is heavy sweet sherry tones, oak and some caramel. Flavour is sweet with stinging oaky tones, some alcohol and caramel. Surprisingly close to Emelisse BW Buffalo Trace even though this has been in sherry barrels. Quite far from Un-Human Cannonball. Like that Emelisse, this has potential but is too sweet and too oaky to be enjoyable.

66 cl bottle. 2013 version.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Aroma is resinous with hops, some caramel and malts also, some plums, sherry and wood. Flavor of caramel malts, exotic fruits, very strong raisin, resin and some more caramel. Complex and full-bodied. A bit too strong with the raisin notes, otherwise quite nice.

660ml bottle

2013 release - Pours orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of wood, oak, caramely malts, hints of sherry and sweet syrup. Taste is malty, sweet and syrupy with notes of raisin, resinous hops and caramely toffee. Finish is sweet, syrupy and caramely malty with hints of sherry, wood and notes of raisin, ripe fruity hops and caramely toffee. Quite sweet and fruity barley wine with hints of sherry, very different compared to the fresh Un-Human Cannonball.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Cloudy, dark orange. Film of white head. Tinned mandarin. Muscovado sugar. Light pithiness. Light caramel. Taste is spicy, Christmas cake sweetness. Light dryness. Thick, chewy palate. Plenty of bitterness on the finish. I liked this a lot.

Bottle from Ales by Mail. Orangey gold looks with a meek white head. Sweet malts, booze and fruits evident in the beak. Similarly boozy sweet flavour with some hop bitterness and wood notes. Lacked a bit of finesse somehow. Magic Rock have set such a high standard that I was hoping this would be spectacular which it isn’t quite.
