An "India Red Ale" A deeply red, raucously hopped showstopper of a beer. We took our Rapture red hop recipe and turned the volume up to 11. A kaleidoscope of speciality malts deliver a robust yet smoothly sweet mouth feel while sack loads of Australian whole hops bring tropical fruit flavours of lychee, papaya and passion fruit. For the grand finale we introduced waves of magic aroma by dry hopping the beer with kg after kg of those same big and beautifully pungent Aussie hops. Roll up, roll up, The Big Top is in town!

(keg@Catford Bridge Tavern, SE London) Dark sienna red in colour, with a medium off white persistent head and lacing. Aroma/taste caramel malt, toffee, with prominent fruity hop character, grapefruit, red berries, pine. Lovely mouthfeel/palate with sweet opening to a bitter finish. Really liked this allot, very impressive (D16)

Keg at Euston Tap. Dark red brown. Small off-white head. Aroma is resinous hops, strong, cat pee astringency. Taste is nice, nice bitterness, but of spice, some citrus in there, lemon and lime and most of all grapefruit. But like curious but tougher. But of a puckerer.

Brewdog Camden 6 Nov 12. Veldig mørkebrun. Litt gjørmete. Lavt, litt farget skum. Beskjeden søt fruktaroma. Sherrypreg. Smaken er søte plommer. Godt balansert med en syrlig bitterhet. Tørr fruktig ettersmak.

[keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Dark brownish red with a large, cream-coloured head. As expected, lots and lots of fruity tropical aromas – mango, passion fruit, papaya. Resinous as well, very piney. Trace of celery in there, too. Similar flavours. Becomes progressively sweet and woody on the finish, as the pine mingles with the sweeter fruit flavours and the alcohol [18122012]

Keg. Deep red scarlet ale. Opaque with, as expected, a BIG TOP. decent offwhite head too. Smells of mango, grapefruit, lime. Taste is surprisingly malty, but still tons of fruits. Mango and lychee and a little plum perhaps. Finish is solid. Dry, sweet and bitter and lasting.

Tap at William IV (Magic Rock takeover) 10/12/12. Dark chestnut brown with reddish hues, good sized bubbly off white head. Nose is caramel malt, Tizer, sugars, good thwack of pine, hops. Taste is pine forward, dark toffee, light smoke, touch of wood. Full bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. The alcohol is well disguised. More great stuff from Magic Rock !
