4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 FaithHealer1 (330) - SCOTLAND - NOV 23, 2012
Keg at Arcadia, Leeds. Pours a deep ruby, finger of slightly bubbly head. Aroma is all the good youd expect, caramely malt and cloves/spice. Taste is initially a little sweet, with a caramel/sherbet thing found on, before it expands into a hoppy balloon of bliss. The malt balances it brilliantly (dominating is too strong a phrase), with a nice spicy, clovey note as well as little sweetness. The way this expands on the palate is really impressive, and right up my street. Magic Rock are yet to properly disappoint me: this is a stunner.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (6945) - London, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2012
Keg at King Bill IV, London during the Magic Rock event. Pours rich, amber-brown with a tight, creamy tan cap. Nose holds dirty earth and pine, toasty bread, toasty grass. Medium sweet flavor with lots of pine, earth and dirt, some burnt grass, rich toasted brown bread, very light dried berries. Medium bodied with average, smooth carbonation. Moderately resinous finish with toasted pine, dry berries, mild warmth, rich brown bread. Good and ballsy.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Scopey (3243) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2012
Keg at IndyManBeerCon 2012. It pours cloudy red-brown, with a medium yellowish beige head. The nose is full of sweet red fruit: strawberry, cherry, lychee, as well as jam, pine and varnish. The taste is pine, resin, assertive bitterness, jammy fruit, lots of red berry, varnish and resinous hops, with a smooth, ballsy bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Wow! Balance is brilliant and alcohol is well-hidden. Delicious and utterly drinkable. Can these guys do no wrong?

Keg at the Catford Bridge Tavern. First of all thanks to the missus (who once worked for a paint firm) for coming up with an exotic colour for this brew and thanks also to Reuben for the share!
Dark sienna red pour with a fluffy white head. Strong berry aroma- raspberry, redberries with hints of red apple. Fruit burst on the palate. Flavours of orchard fruit, raspberries and blackberries with a hint of caramel. Nice bitter edge. Damned fine stuff.

Keg. Deep red scarlet ale. Opaque with, as expected, a BIG TOP. decent offwhite head too. Smells of mango, grapefruit, lime. Taste is surprisingly malty, but still tons of fruits. Mango and lychee and a little plum perhaps. Finish is solid. Dry, sweet and bitter and lasting.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Cloudy brown colour, creamy beige head. Lovely aroma of Australian hops, notes of tropical fruits and fir needles. Intense flavour of hops throughout, again with notes of tropical fruits and grapefruit, fir and pine needles and resin. There is a sufficient malty backbone, but not much sweetness. The bitterness is firm, but not too extreme. Jolly good.
