4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is a hazy golden-orange beer with very bitter citrus and orange marmalade flavours, pine and grapefruit notes with a warming, creamy zesty, rich tropical fruit finish.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle with a huge thanks to Ben! This beer rocked my world. Pours cloudy orange, medium off-white creamy head that dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, wonderful tropical citrusy. Flavor is the same, very tropical fruity, just a touch of cat piss. Light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, some warming. This just might be my new favorite DIPA. Wow. Go England!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
660ml bottle from The Beerhive.
Frothy white head with some lacing. Hazy amber body. Nose is all hops, pine with some tropical fruit. Body is grapefruit, caramel, treacle, burnt sugar. A fair bit of alcohol coming through. Aftertaste is light bitterness with molasses and dried fruit. Good full mouthfeel, medium carbonation. This is a brilliant beer, strong but not overpowering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Juicy sweet orangy marmalade nose and taste supported by a massive bitter wall reminiscent of Stone Double Bastard. Some fizz. Dull orange haze. Light line of white head. Potent. A bit one dimensional but more of a howitzer than just a cannonball.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Haand Festival 2013. Cloudy golden body, small white head. Aroma is piney with apricot and mango, caramel, grass. Sweet malty taste with fruits, mango, pineapple, light yeast notes, touch of alcohol. Bitterness overshadowed by lots of sweet stuff. Thick body, caramel and fruity finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hops develop some resins within this oily, honeyed Blond Barley Wine.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam floats atop the cloudy dark beige.
-Alcohol is not too prominent for 12%.
-There might be some sulphury edges here and there...
-The tiny, prickly bubbles aren’t able to enliven the heavy, sugary body.
-This is not accomplished enough for the price tag they are charging. I’m glad a generous RBian shared this with me!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
660ml bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Big big mango, lychee, peaches and cream aroma. Such a surprisingly smooth palate, with hay, caramel and hints of cough mixture at the sides, which brings me round to aniseed, then fresh spruce. Heat comes late in the swallow and lingers in the chest. Big hype surrounding the launch of this and I wasn’t going to go out of my way but I just fell into this and I’m glad I did. £12.99 is high end but it is a mighty fine beer
