UPDATED: APR 26, 2014 21st May 2013
Cloudy amber beer, good pale cream head. Malt cream and hop on the nose. Smooth palate with fine minerally carbonation. Creamy malt with a caramel streak. Big resinous hops. Strong skunk and grass. Lesser pine and a touch of mint. Whisper of well buried citrus. Finishes smooth and semi dry with pine and mint aftertaste and a little peppery spice. Hats off to Magic Rock for brewing this. I think Triple IPAs are pretty hard to nail and whilst this is a very tasty beer I don’t think has quite made it, just seems a bit raw hops wise. 3.6

11.0% version. Bright clear gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth with mild carbonation. Light smooth malt base, mildly sweet. Hops are a heady mix of mild hop skunk and sweetish tropical fruits, pineapple taking point. There is mango and ripe orange on the rear end. The mid is generic tropical fruits. Brief flash of fresh orange and mild sherbet. Pine rides along throughout. Whispers of lemon and hop spice. Light finish. So this is allegedly pretty much the same recipe as last year and yet it looks, smell and tastes like a different beer to me, much improved as well. Hugely drinkable to the point that I finished the 660 in about 20 mins. Lovely!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Haand Festival. A small, off-white head sits on top of an unclear, orange-golden body. The aroma has peaches, some alcohol and lots of grapefruit. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, trying to deal with the malty sweetness. Peaches, grapefruit and warming alcohol too. It’s full-bodied, with a quite stinging hoppyness. Sure, it’s nice, but a bit too intense I think. Less alcohol would do good. 130525

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg at CBC Islington - London. Pours coudy gold with a tight, creamy white head. Loads of ripe, slightly rotting citrus on the nose, plenty of melon, orange, grapefruit and tangerine. Medium to big sweet flavor, some boozy kick, lots of juicy hops, moderate bitterness, plenty of ripe citrus, orange and tangerine, melon. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, quite sticky and resinous, lots of pine, grapefruit, orange. It’s a big boy. Drinks pretty good for 12%, but you do feel the strength. Lots of dank, juicy and resinous hops linger.
