Once a year we receive the latest crop of hops from the US, intensely aromatic and bursting with potential they’re begging to be put to work. With three times the quantity of hops of our explosive IPA ‘Cannonball’ and even more than our flagship Double IPA ‘Human Cannonball’ we’ve created a fitting tribute to the new hop release with this our annual homage to the hop. ‘Un-Human Cannonball ‘takes IPA to another dimension balancing massive citric aroma, deep tropical fruit flavor and gravity defying drinkability to deliver a hop experience that is out of this world. We’ve done our best for the hops don’t let them down by aging this beer, please drink as soon as Un-Humanly possible!

UPDATED: APR 24, 2014 Golden body, with small fleeting off-white head. Aroma is wonderfully intense. Fresh dank hops, grapefruit, mango, pine, some sweet caramel malt. Soft carbonation, with silky medium/full body. Quite sweet initial burst, with peach, citrus, pine, alcohol before a moderate-bitterness takes hold. Very dank. Sweet malt balances the beer beautifully. A little short on the finish for my palate but lovely nevertheless. Nice and fresh in taste and flavor. Chewy and luscious, with a slight nudge from the alcohol. Quality big beer. Did not disappoint.

Murky cardboard golden, bright but dull at the same time. Initially decent head but fades with slim great lacing. Nose is furry peach, dense mango and initially very just fleshy tropical fruit. Initial taste is bright, chalky booze and sunshine citrus. Blasts of brassy but pillowed bitterness, dewy and Soily though. Carbonation is soft as fuck. Mouthfeel is crusty tinny. Finishes a fairly clean shaven tropical fruit smash for the ABV, though the linger isn’t as nourishing as previous efforts. Bottle, third of three only upped the nose for 2015 the rest are untouched. Keg 2013 is king. First batch pithes the deepest.

Poured into a taster showing extremely cloudy, phlegm-like yellow. The aroma shows a lot of tropical fruit (guava, passion fruit, peaches, mango) and big notes of cannabis. The palate is cloudy and light bodied with a very strong pithy/citric bitterness that is very well balanced by the same tropical fruit flavors that appear on the nose. Despite the high alcohol and heavy flavors it’s still very easy to approach. The precipitates lend itself to the body of the beer; somewhat thick bodied but with a medium carbonation.

Reminds me of Nogne O 500, just a big full bodied IPA/Barley Wine beast. Great beer.

Tap @ Kaapse Fest, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of big piney hops, citrus, grapefruit, slight biscuity malt. Big bold bitterness, pine again. Great IIPA, although I dont know if I could handle a bomber of this stuff. Probably burns holes in your stomach. But for a small sipper, it’s delicious.
