We’ve wanted to include another IPA in the range for a while so we picked up with an idea that Stu first mentioned back in 2011, an IPA containing 100% Vienna malt. In contrast to what we wanted with Cannonball this would give the beer a bit more body and also a biscuity/toasty flavour to balance the hops against.

BD Edin. Pours a golden haze. Nose is light fruit and hops. Lovely Vienna biscuityness. And lovely hop character too, pithy, earthy. Very nice

6.6%ABV. Vienna IPA. Tapped out a deep amber. 18ºSRM. Nose has clean sweet fruity flavors. Very subtle in its overall character. Enticing and very approachable. There are subtle pine and citrus aromas. Again, maybe like sniffing a ripe cold Valencia orange. A very nice candy-like sweetness to the nose. The malty nose is like what you’d get from a fresh piece of vaporous multigrain toast. Mouthfeel is sudsy, bordering on soapy. Very approachable palate with nice dark malt flavors in abundance riding on a neat alcholic cloud. There is the flavor of black bread, pumpernickel tanginess, toffee and caramel. There is a brief hint of some medicinal herbs. Finish is clean and long with the following flavor sequence: pine, grass, citrus, resin, hyssop all the way to the very best and brightest bitter end! Goes on Favorites List!

From tap @ Omerta/Krakow. Clear, dark amber appearance. Typicall vienna malt nose and taste. Sweet caramel taste with the bitterness of an IPA

Cask in the Magic Rock Tap in Huddersfield. Amber with a nice dense off white head. Not a huge amount of aroma - mild pine hop. The taste is really fruity with bitter resinous pine hop and a lovely biscuity malt base. There’s orange in there too. Very good.

Deep golden color. Very clean malty nose with the Vienna malt really shining. Mouth is smooth medium, but this beer is all about the Vienna malts.

Aroma: overripe, heavy sweet exotic fruits, pineapple, resin. Appearance: clear amber, medium, creamy, off-white head. Taste: medium sweet. Palate: sweets continue, overripe, somewhat bittersweet fruits, intense resin, turns dry and bitter in the finish. Overall: very nice IPA, intense and complex aroma and palate. Pint at CASK Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico.

Backlog rating. Keg at BD Shepherd’s Bush tap takeover, London. It pours a light golden color with medium white head. Aroma is grassy and lightly hoppy with notes of citrus peel, straw, grapefruit peel, melon. Taste has more grains, straw, lemon peel and melon. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, nice and refreshing

Cask. Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2015. Chestnut brown with a thin tan head. Nose is burnt tangerine, kumquat, a little lychee. Taste is surprisingly light, giving some more fresh kumquat and lychee. There’s a over ripeness to the orange taste, but not unpleasant. Very very nice. Belies its ABV.
