COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The fruitiness of Magners Pear Cider perfectly balanced with the fresh taste of natural ginger. Refreshingly tangy and distinctive. Magners Selections are crafted honouring William Magner’s authentic recipe perfected since 1935.

500mL bottle Pours near water white body, faintest tinge of the ginge, brilliant clarity. Course bead. Faint aroma, bit of confectionary pear and lemonade. Not much ginger to mention. Fizzy soft drink-like carbonation, light body, somewhat watery, finishes short on the palate. Medium sweet up front, bit of lemonade and pear candy. Ginger comes through towards the finish with a subtle hint of spicy warm, Very clean, dry finish. This could easily be confused with a soft drink. Not really my cup of tea - would be nice to see more ginger flavour.

500ml bottle at 4.0%. Pours like watered down limeade. Aroma is warm ginger with a little pear underneath. Taste has a little soapy ginger to start and a watery pear finish. Poor.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear and very pale straw yellow, with fine trailing bubbles. The aroma is an odd mix of ginger, a slight off-sweetness and a whiff of leather, and not entirely appealing. Thankfully, it tastes better than it smells. An initial mild and fruity pear flavour is overcome by ginger, which mixes well with the fruity sweetness one expects to find in a commercial perry. The pear flavour reappears in the body, blending nicely with the ginger. The finish tastes exactly like proper, brewed ginger beer, as opposed to the artificially-flavoured stuff. This is a very unusual drink - pear and ginger make an odd flavour combination, although not an unpleasant one. On the whole, however, I would prefer to just have an ordinary perry.
