COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our tribute to Cologne’s unique, crisp, golden ale/lager hybrid. We start with German malt and hops and tie it all together with a true Kolsch yeast from Cologne to impart some subtle fruit and wine flavors while producing the smoothness of a lager. Served in an authentic Kolsch stange to enchance the crisp, cool, effervescence of this thirst-quenching beer. Malts: German pilsner, Munich and wheat Hops: German Spalt and Hersbrucker

On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear yellow with a rich white head and a PBR aroma. There is a clean kolsch flavor, slightly sweet with a dry finish.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a medium white head. Sweet malty aroma with noble hops. Sweet malt flavor that is almost caramelly or syrupy with noble hops and a sweet finish. Sweeter than most Kolsches I’ve had and not as crisp, but the depth of body was interesting.

My Bottom Line:
Herbal hops, straw-like cereals and citrusy fruitiness coalesce for a fresh and almost rural example of the Kölsch style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the hazy blond; this was served in the right glass for the style!
-The flavour profile is beautifully balanced.
-This was better when a tad warmer.
-The finishing hop bitterness was also grassy at times.
-This is either a brew which is not constant in quality or it is ridiculously underrated. .

On tap at the brewpub.

Pale golden pour. A bit hazy with a tight white head. Lightly herbal hoppy nose with just a kiss of light fruitiness on the back. Fresh and clear and a pretty solid kolsch.

Draught at the Giants Brewfest. Clear golden with a white head. Corn, cooked vegetables, and sweet grain in the aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a modest bitterness and no hop character. Light bodied and fizzy. Cut the DMS and this would be nice and refreshing.

On tap at Alembic. Light hoppy aroma with a bit of pale/pilsner malt sweetness. Crisp, clean aroma. Golden clear with visible carbonation and thin white lacing head. Medium body with effervescent carbonation. Clean crisp Kölsch-style beer with light pale malt sweetness, crisp but mild hops and a beany hoppy finish. Refreshing and a good jo . After is light sweet with beany hop flavor and some herbal notes.

Sampled during RBSG 7/9/2009 on tap at the brewpub. This kolsch pours a medium gold color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal and grain, fruit and sweet. A medium bodied kolsch. The malts are fruity, cerealy and sweet. The hops are slightly spicy. Nice kolsch, perhaps a touch sweet, but good flavor. Nice summer beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
