COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

OH YES! It’s now FRIDAY and THIS is what I’ve been craving ALL DAY LONG! Huge, BOLD, citrus aroma with lots of spice. Flavor is quite sweet but is balanced with a very POTENT bitterness. When I ask for an IPA... THIS is what I want!!!!!

Sampled at Magnolia, June 2007. Clear copper with a white head. Nice PacNW hop nose (cascade, amarillo, tropical fruits). Caramel, grapefruit, pine, citrus. Pleasant sweetness level, bitter finish yet smooth. Medium bodied, nice texture and fine-beaded carbonation. Kind of a hybrid American/Brit IPA. Good.

Cask, at the brewpub in san Francisco. deep amber-gold, thin dense head. Grapefruity aroma, sweet. Much more malt than the SpudBoy, really nice, fruity, ending with a healthy whopping dose of resinous piney bitterness. Low carbonation lends a smooth mouthfeel. I really liked this a lot.

Big west coast IPA. Long lingering pine. Slightly dirty-hazy, rich yellow. Goes really well with a salad, actually. (on cask at brewpub)

(06.21.07) On tap at Magnolia Pub & Brewery, San Francisco, CA. 7.2% ABV. Clear golden amber with small white head. No Carbonation. Slight hop aroma. Starts dry with intense upfront hoppy bitterness; Pine resiny hop flavors. Medium bodied. Long finish with light lingering bitterness. Very good flavorful hoppy beer. Awesome with a Cuban sandwich. One of Magnolia’s better offerings.

Weird plant nose, pale gold color. Sweet body, huge hop bitter end that goes through change in profile ending in a grassy dryness.

Tap. Pours with a golden color and a nice head. Aromas of pine, citrus and hops, flavors dominated by hops, some grapefruit, resins. A West Coast style IPA. Lasting bitterness in the finish, nice.

(On tap) Clear, pale, amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Discreetly citric nose. Fairly full-bodied with some caramel malt and then extreme accents of pine - this is almost resinated! Dry and bitter finish. 210307
