(06.21.07) On tap at Magnolia Pub & Brewery, San Francisco, CA. 7.2% ABV. Clear golden amber with small white head. No Carbonation. Slight hop aroma. Starts dry with intense upfront hoppy bitterness; Pine resiny hop flavors. Medium bodied. Long finish with light lingering bitterness. Very good flavorful hoppy beer. Awesome with a Cuban sandwich. One of Magnolia’s better offerings.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I’m very fond of Magnolia, and this is a fine brew, but it is not the style that they excel at (British style ales, especially cask or real ale). As a west coast style IPA it lacks the citrus notes I expect. It’s properly very hoppy, but lacks any sweetness to prevent drying out the palate. Pours a light orange, thin head and weak lacing. Resin and banana (?) on the nose. Taste is very strong, bitter hops, a little spicy. Finish is the weak point--exhausts as opposed to refreshes with it;’s dryness. Good, not great.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Hopgeist 2014. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted bready malts, herbal and earthy hops, a splash of citrus, moderate bitterness, decent dry ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Taster on tap at Hopgeist 2014. Hazy orange color. Ring of off-white head, leaving good ridges of lace. Musty metallic malt, some pine and grapefruit citrus hop. Moderate bitter, light sweet, kind of dry. Medium plus body, light slick texture. Lighter kind of crisp carbonation. Pretty assertive, tasty IPA.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer had a nice hoppy nose with a sweet body, just a touch of spice. The alcohol was masked very well.

a solid entry into the west coast ipa category. medium bodied and refreshing, with a crisp malt bill and enough hops to take notice. thoroughly enjoyed it’s orange peel bitterness. had cask and regular versions...cask slightly sweeter and thicker."

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A decent IPA. Pours a classic clear orange. Smells like pale ale, tropical fruit and hops. Taste is quite hoppy, but is good example of a balanced IPA. Had on tap at the Tiburon Taps Beer Festival.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft sample from the source, lightly hazy gold with nice suds of bubbly head retention. Aroma is a nice medley of citrus and floral hops. Solid lingering floral bitterness with a touch of pine. Finely made IPA!
