COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A bold IPA in the modern, West Coast style, but with plenty of malt character from our robust Maris Otter. Generous quantities of Columbus and Cascade hops give this bitter beer resinous, piney, and citrus-like flavors while a bit of Czech Saaz hops adds a touch of spice.

Malts: floor-malted Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat; flaked barley, malted rye
Hops: Columbus; Cascade; Saaz, dry-hopped with Cascade
Food Pairings: assertive, spicy foods, grilled salmon & shrimp, pizza.

The aroma is fantastic, off the scales. The beer comes in at 140 IBU, according to the bartender. However, the taste pales in comparison to the wonderful aroma. Buy it to smell it.

a solid entry into the west coast ipa category. medium bodied and refreshing, with a crisp malt bill and enough hops to take notice. thoroughly enjoyed itís orange peel bitterness. had cask and regular versions...cask slightly sweeter and thicker."

A decent IPA. Pours a classic clear orange. Smells like pale ale, tropical fruit and hops. Taste is quite hoppy, but is good example of a balanced IPA. Had on tap at the Tiburon Taps Beer Festival.

Magnolia Pub, San Francisco, draft. Bright citrus hops. Orange-copper with fizzy head and little lacing. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft sample from the source, lightly hazy gold with nice suds of bubbly head retention. Aroma is a nice medley of citrus and floral hops. Solid lingering floral bitterness with a touch of pine. Finely made IPA!

On tap @ the brewery during San Francisco 7/7/14 beer tour. Pours a golden orange appearance with an off white head. Spicy, bitter, piney hoppy nose. No diacetyl offered! Sheesh. Some grapefruit. Medium body. Balanced bitterness/sweetness. A bit of tropical fruits. Pretty clean but itís not that interesting.

On tap at Lupulo in Santa Cruz. Clear light golden with small white head. Sweet malty nose, taste leans that way also. Nice finish.

On cask at Magnolia. Light clear amber, thin white head. Floral and tropical fruit aroma. Big bitter citrus taste up front, moving into sweet malt, and finally a bitter finish. Silky smooth cask body. Very good.

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a slightly hazy pale brown color. Great balance of hop flavors. Mild and easy going.

On tap at Magnolia, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out lots of tropical fruits and some caramel undertones. Flavour is more syrupy than I like an IPA, with notes of woody hops, floral notes, and syrupy caramel. Too much residual sweetness for my liking, making it difficult to drink. Not very good.

From the hand pump at Tornado in the Lower Haight just down the hill from the brewpub in S.F. I always look to drink cask conditioned IPAís when I can find them. I appreciate how the cask process mellows the bitterness and allows for the full flavor of the hops to emerge in the ale. This brew does not disappoint! Try this beer for the authentic taste of real ale.
