mwsf (361), San Francisco, California, USA Jun 5, 2002 On cask... Nice English Mild. Slight roasted flavors. Surprising body for such a small beer. Nearly imperceptible hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma. Slightly funky aftertaste that I can’t put my finger on, but most likely due to their yeast. It’s a common complaint that I have with Magnolia’s beers. Overall nice and drinkable. One of Magnolia’s better beers. luv_casks (176), USA Feb 19, 2006 I consistently try the Cask Conditioned version... never been disappointed.
Aroma: Wonderful English Hops with a little malt
Appearance: Ruby and Copper pours with a small head
Flavor: I seem to pick up some cherries with a hop and malt flavors
Palate: Medium-light body, finishes slightly dry... just making me want another pint
Overall: An excellent example of a cask-conditioned bitter... What a treat if you like session beers... reinforces my opinion Dave Maclean makes absolutely incredible English Style Beers bar none... a brewer and brew pub a must visit in SF Hophead22 (258), Redlands, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 Cask at the brewery.
