COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huge smoke profile, but it in fact doesn’t contain any smoke at all – all of the color and roast is from the dark roasted malts. It’d be killer with a dessert made with really dark chocolate.

On tap @ the brewery during San Francisco 7/7/14 beer tour. Pours a deep brown appearance and a dark brown head. Anise, plum, dark chocolate, light coffee, grape aroma. Body is a bit thin. Fairly sweet. Heavy on the dark fruit. Lots of licorice and raisins. Slightly burnt flavor. Ok.

Just about black in color with a khaki head. Big roasted malt aroma, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, and some alcohol. An interesting herbal note as well as some spicy hops. Tastes primarily of roasted malt and coffee. A slight acidity, some chocolate, coffee, and burnt sugar. Licorice, herbal anise notes, spicy hops, earth, and alcohol warmth.

From tap, jet black with a nice mocha head. Big aromas of roasted malt, liquorice, dark chocolate, molasses, alcohol and a hint of fennel. The aromas carry right through to the palate. Bit of an alcohol hit but a welcoming bitterness and roastyness comes through; love the liquorice/fennel bitter aftertaste. Only downside was it was served way too cold!

On tap at the Alembic Bar in SF. Pretty solid offering. Black in color with a brown head that lasts. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Quite tasty, a lot like a Whoppers milkshake. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and milky creaminess. Creamy and full on the palate.
