On tap. Pours with a deep, cola hued body with a medium sized tan/off-white head that fades. Aromas are nutty, caramel, brown sugar, cola, sarsaparilla, walnut, light clove, medium spicy. Flavors are malty, honey, brown sugar, nutty, cola, chamomile tea and slightly floral. Low bitterness, a bit herbal with a malty balance. Dry finish with a touch of tannin left on the tongue. Medium to slightly fuller bodied, medium-low carbonation. Very slightly warming, but otherwise the alcohol is quite well hidden.

Sampled at the Blue Palms Farmer’s Market FestivALE. Another beer where the spices underwhelm. Not a bad beer but not too exciting to my palate. A bit boring actually.

I wish I could remember more of this beer to properly describe it. It’s an ok beer, but nothing to get too excited about.

A - Served a dark black-brown color with a finger of frothy tan-chocolate colored head. The head faded down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of herbal and spices. There is some cardamom, coriander, sage, and rosemary. There is also some pepper and just a touch of dark fruits.
T - Starts off with the herbs and spices with a nice mix of coriander, pepper, and rosemary. There is also a just a touch of grain as well. Through the middle, the spices and herbs get a bit stronger and more complex with a bit of fruit coming through. The finish is a mix of cardamom, pepper, and rosemary that lingers.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and almost a bit roasty on the tongue.
D - Very drinkable. Really nice mix of spices that all balanced out very well and tasted much more rich and complex than most other herbal ales.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. July 2011.
A very special beer that totally does it for me. This is amazing stuff. Pours dark brow with a red hue, the head is light and sand coloured. This beer smells of a flower garden, it’s so complex and a lot of different smells is to be found. I get baking syrup, dough, roses, dark fruits like plums and prunes. Notes of rose wine and leather is also present. Taste have the same complexity to it, it’s also very creamy and smooth. The flavours are flowery but at the same time very earthy, malt, tea, herbs and wine to name a few. Slightly sweet. For me this is a wondrous and stunning beer.
