Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Northamptonshire BF. A ruby coloured mild with a beige coloured head. The aroma is sweetish malty. The taste has hints of coffee and caramel. Over sweet for my taste in mild. Needs more alcohol to carry off the sweetness. Average only.

Cask at the Lincolnshire Poacher, Nottingham. This seems more like a brown ale than a mild to me; it’s medium to dark brown, not black. The flavours are dominated by roast without much of the soft fruit flavours I like in a mild. A pint proved to be more than enough.

Cask Handpump from the Outside Bar at the Star Inn, Huddersfield 31/03/2007 Hoppy slightly sweet aroma. Thick white head. Amber mid brown coloured smooth on the palate fruity and floral with some bitterness and roast in a crisp malt finish.
