Wombata (620) - Kobe, JAPAN - DEC 31, 2011
Aroma: Some Ovaltine malt drink at first, hazel nut, sweet, malty bread, a little burnt molasses. Palate: Sweet but not cloying. Flavor: Nutty, sweet, malty bread, molasses, yeast. Finishes a bit drier than it starts with bitter cocoa, molasses and slightly burnt coffee. Comment: Better than I expected. For me it’s best drunk cold so as to keep the sweetness in check. I liked the evolution of sweet attack to a less sweet finish.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Viking Line Gabriella, 20111114) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had metallicness, malts and mildly sewer. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, metallicness, paper, molasses and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Some unpleasant parts but still drinkable - boring.

Slightly sweet aroma and flavor of roasted malt, figs and raisins. In the the flavor is also a boring sour tone that I do not appreciate. No, this is no beer for me!

Bottle. Quite dark reddish brown, large tan head, some lacing. Aroma: fruity, lightly roasted, maybe some nuts, some kind of candy. Taste: some licorice, fruit, lightly roasted, quite sweet, low bitterness, tastes nice, but is a bit watery. Medium-bodied, quite a high carbonation. A bit anonymous, but not bad.
