2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled. (Thanks Dorqui) Dark brown in colour. Minor beige head, lacings. The aroma is malty.. syrup in a loaf of bread. The flavour is malty, burnt malt with syrup... It has a dry aftertaste.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nose is lquoricey and dark with notes of coffee. This follows into the flavour which is roasted and rich but tastes like it’s full of additives. Reasonable but not amazing.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Malty aroma. Brown color, showing red when held up to the light, thin beige head. The flavor was sweet and malty, a little like molasses. The mouth feel was a little bit sticky with too much carbonation. Not great, but not bad.

1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. A black coloured pour with a small lasting head. I could detect no aroma. A very light malty, bitter finish with hints of honey. Very little taste there really.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 14, 2007 Sweet, coffeeish Dunkel with ruby-black body and dimpled, off-white head. Maybe a little lacking in roastiness or body, but what the hell? Slips down silkily. Pleasant and uncomplicated. (Re-rate 3/4/07) Quite a teasing snout for a Spaniard. Gently smoky roasted malt with suggestions of dark fruit, licorice and bitter chocolate. A sniff of waxiness. Creamier and fuller bodied than other Iberian efforts in this style. Well retained tan suds. Smoothly roasty with a hint of beechwood smokiness. Quite a charred, lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

(Bottle BB 27/03/07) Roasted malty and very slightly hoppy aroma. Dark red brown colour, bright and light brown, small, almost fully diminishing head with small lacing. Roasted malty, slightly fruity, slightly bitter and slightly sweet flavour with a hint of licorice. Medium-bodied, lively carbonated and slightly chalky palate. 28/05/06

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from supermarket, Barcelona. A lot better than I thought it would be, this dark red beer was caramelly, malty, syrupy and reasonably malty then developed some bitterness (a bit caustic) and a subtle toffee character in the finish. I didn’t get any roast but maybe a hint of liquorice? For Carlsberg, a revelation.
