bgburdman9 (708), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 19, 2007 Flavor was sweet and banana flavored to it with some chocolate to back it all up. was pretty good overall but just nothing that stood at to it.
after4ever (1652), Brier, Washington, USA Jul 25, 2008 Draft at Uber. Opaque, grainy brown with dense, creamy tan head. Sweet and gentle (but very present) whipped cream and red apple nose. Rich and creamy but very soft and clean attack; caramel and very light buttercream notes on the mid-palate. Delicious, soft, and harmonious with a definite presence. beerguy101 (3424), Newark, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 This weizen bock pours a deep brown color from a 50cl bottle. Large sized white foamy head, with good lacing and nice retention. The head is nearly alive. The aroma is caramel and beady with some chocolate and banana. A medium bodied dunkel weizen bock. The malts are bready and caramel, with banana and chocolate. The hops are slightly earthy. Nice balance. Lively carbonation. Nice beer, kind of mild tasting, yet enough flavor to be interesting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. bhensonb (2735), Woodland, California, USA Jul 3, 2008 500 ml. bottle at 8.5%. Dark amber color with a 4 finger tan head. Aromas of banana, darker roasted malt, and clove. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation, that has a slight bite. The flavor is smooth caramel/toffee/molasses with banana, and I still think clove. And a bunch of darker fruit aspects. It’s really thick. It’s somewhat sweet, but there’s enough something to cut that. Near balanced. Extremely tasty. Ernest (4186), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jun 26, 2008 Bottle (new imports that Shelton Bros is labeling as 8.5% ABV).
Head is initially huge, frothy, light brown, fully lasting.
Body is hazy/cloudy medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted bread/grain), with notes of brown sugar, overripe banana, clove.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
A very good, if basic, rendition. Somewhat lacking in depth/nuance, but one of the better Mahr’s offerings. grimreeser (613), Minnesota, USA Jun 24, 2008 Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a lot of caramel and a little banana. Sweet taste. Solid.
