2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
50cl, bb 04/2014. Immediate alcohol and starch in the nose, the mind boggles why an age-old traditional brewery who does prime normal beers would want this in their beer. Some fruitiness ensues as it warms. Flavour is the same, amped grains and confused sour mash, palate sticky and cardboard. Another fuming case against bottom fermenting anything over 6%. First heavy letdown from Mahrs.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml Bottle: BBD 21 Apr 14, poured into a Hannen Alt tumbler (three times) at home on 23 Feb 14. Brought back from Berlin to drink at leisure.
Golden and bright body, clear and clean looking: good snow white foaming head that hangs around for a while.
Light malty nose with a bready like hint.
The taste was also malt led, again with a bread yeastiness: nothing exciting or bold, but a good solid light coloured Bock with enough alcohol and flavour to keep me interested.
Better than average and worth finding: dirt cheap in Germany too.

Bottle shared by my brother. Clear gold in color with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet malt and some caramel. Sweet malt flavor with bread and corn accents before a caramelly sweet finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a brilliant yellow/orange color with a nice off white head. The smell is mild caramel, alcohol, grassy hops. Mild fruit, grain, some caramel ending with grassy hops and dryness... Nice. Medium body, nicely carbonated.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle, my bottle says 6.0% ABV. Served in a mug, the beer pours a hazy golden orange color with about a half inch off-white head. The brew smells like bready malt, apples, bananas and some light hops. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some clove and a bit of citrus and grassy hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it has moderate carbonation and is easy enough to drink. I think it’s an OK beer, but nothing stands out about it. Worth a try once, but I don’t see myself buying it again anytime soon. $4.99 a bottle.

500ml bottle - pours dark gold with offwhite head and light lacing. Nose is a little skunky, grassy and caramel. Flavor adds bread. a little hoppy and moderately sweet. decent. If it weren’t so expensive, I’d drink this on a regular basis.
