3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.5 l bottle. This is definitely different. Clear yellow, white lasting head. Hoppy malty aroma. Sharp hoppy flavor with lots of mat to back it up. Way hoppier than you would expect a bock to be, and a big mat sweetness to back it up. Not the color one would expect either.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2011 @ Mahr’s, Bamberg. Golden-amber, thick head. Lovely spicy hop aroma with some nice bready malts. Soft breads and caramels with delicious spicy hops. Really good hellerbock. The balance is exceptional, this is one of the more moreish bocks in Bamberg and might be the best one in the city that isn’t smoked.

1.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2005 Amber body with a small foamy white head. Nose is grassy and malted with some buttered biscuit odors coming through. Some hints of straw and honey as well. Taste is odd. There is a hoppy dry part then a metallic taste to it. To me, this is NOT a bock but more a malt liquor, at least based on taste. Mouthfeel is chalky and dry. More metal as well. Finish is bitter and chalky. WOW, this is probably the hugest disappointment I can recall ever having!

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light golden color with a taller off-white foamy head. Pale malt, light dry grass, light caramel and hint of sweet alcohol in the aroma. Light floral sweet start. Later alcohols and metal seep in and make the moth feel like a tin can. An alcohol bitter finish. Seems to lack malt depth. Oddly, I kind of like it. Of course I almost picked up an 40 OZ of OE800 today. Perhaps I am just looking for some alcohol. On second though... No.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Clear golden with medium, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, some herbal. Taste is medium sweet, metallic, bready, herbal, some caramel, light apple. Finish has an alcohol burn. Astringent metallic aftertaste. Medium body with minimal stickiness. Maybe it’s just me, but I find that metallic has no business being in a beer, much less being the first flavor I notice.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Almost blonde in color with a dry and yet somehow, sweet taste. Big lasting, white head with nice lacing. Had a bit of mellow sour apples. Not sure if I’d drink it again, but I did finish it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2011 (gravity cask at iTap Soulard) slightly hazy gold with nice white head and lace. Aroma of slightly sweet malt. Flavor was sweet malt with distinct earthy hops in the finish. MUCH better than a bottle of this I had previously rated.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer looks pale anad sick. The head was average and composed of large bubbles. This is an odd "bock". Very crisp, but only moderatly thirst quenching. Somewhat complex tounge, but the linger ruins that.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A little biot of spiciness in the flavor, but nothing discenable. I don't really get bock, so you're better off finding other ratings to base on.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. Poured a hazy golden color with almost no head. The aroma is malty as hell, and this one had a very bready flavor with a very sour aftertaste. Not bad, but definitely strange.
