4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a medium-sized off-white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is bready with lots of caramel, a bit of fruit, and some floral notes. Flavor is doughy/bready, caramel, toffee, some fruit. Has a long, lingering sweet and doughy finish -- sort of like candied bread. Has a slightly thick, almost chewy mouthfeel. A great bock.

Tap at Churchkey thanks to Travlr. Pours a clear red to deeper amber with a larger tan head. Thicker lace. Nose is super sweet. Mild candies and pine needle bitter. Hints of margarine. Taste is blander with tannic apple skins and tannic grain. Sharper mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had on tap at Monks Cafe in Philly. Nice dark brown pour with a tan foamy head. Aroma of brown sugar. Flavor was caramelized brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg cinnamon and even some ginger maybe? I dont know. I was surprised at the low scores here because I ADORED this beer. I love the sweet malty ones though and I had it on tap as opposed to bottle. It was delightful!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pint bottle poured into a tall glass. The clear and the color of caramel. A small off white head. A rich malty nose with brown sugar. Lots of malt is tasted, too. Grain and light roasted notes. Some soft fruit and gently bitter hops. The finish is a bit more fruity and the hops grow.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ML bottle - pours murky yellow with nice white head and mild lacing. Nose is caramel malts, yeast and spices. Aroma is citrus hops. Taste is sweet at first and quite bitter at the end. Thin to slick texture and medium body. Alcohol and dry finish. This is the lump of coal of Christmas beers; OK, not really but I’d be upset to open this Christmas morning.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Strong aroma has malty, caramel, molasses, yeast and cloves notes, very appealing. It pours a nice clear amber with a typical ivory head. Flavor has fruity, malty and earth notes as well as a hint of cloves. Texture is smooth, average-bodied and just a bit slimy, with minimum fizz. Merry whatever-you-celebrate-this-time-of-year!
