Hazy gold with a white head. Grain and noble hop aroma. Tatse is honeyish malt with a sour note and cardboard and a medium hop finish. Not the freshest bottle.

(draught) pours a clear golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of wet haystacks, summer pastures and dandelions over a very light pale malty base, deliciously floral. flavour is excessively grainy, with a hint of marzipan and a light herbal-hoppy finish. medium-bodied with soft to medium carbonation.

50cl bottle from Bierzwerg. Poured pale golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is slightly sweet malt, hops and grassy notes. Smooth sweetish finish, well in balance. More flavor in this Helles than others I have tried.

I believe I got a relatively fresh bottle from the shelves of Binny’s on this and it’s a rather disappointing version of a style I love. It’s a nice golden brew. The head is small and tightly knit w/ good lacing. The nose has a sharp bite of hops and grain husk up front w/ a sort of thick, heavy sweetness in the background. The flavor is a bit on the sweet side too but it does veer towards fat maltiness and it’s well balanced by hops in the finish. This is a medium bodied brewed, which is perhaps a bit thicker and heavier than I prefer, esp. since the carbonation is a bit on the light side. It is growing a bit on me as I drink it and get used to the flavors which is a hallmark of a good lager so it is not a total loss. Someday, I’ll try this in Bamberg and perhaps find it more worthwhile. For now, what I’m getting in the US is very average.

A light-yellow brew with a frothy white head. Velvet smoothness. Light sweet malts and light hops. Not as heavy in body or flavor as others I have had in this style. Decent enough and drinkable, but this one probably won’t make too many people crazy.

500ml bottle. my 1st rating of this style, didn’t know what to expect. Pored into lager glass. Transparent gold, large white head, with retention. It also had some lacing as I drank. Grainy, grassy aroma. Flavor is crisp, light citrus, very grainy, some dough through the finish, minor bitterness. Slightly sticky body. Pretty plain and nothing real exciting, but there are some hooks here.
